Thanks Tamara. Glad you enjoyed it. It was fun to do but on an average day there we would always spend around the same amount. The good thing is we were certainly not depriving ourselves but eating very well. ❤️ Thailand is amazing 😍

Great question! We use Skyscanner and Google Flights, and compare. We also tend book a few months in advance.

Wow u get a lot more bang for your buck in Chiang Mai compared to bkk and I always thought bkk was cheap at the food courts there. The fried chicken rice is almost double the amount of food compared to a bkk eatery. Next stop for me - Chiang mai !

Great video. I do worry if you are getting your 5 fruit and vegetables a day though. A few pieces of cucumber and possibly some buried vegies in the noodle soup. maybe a bit of banana in one of the drinks.

That's a good point, thank you 🙏 This video was to illustrate that it is possible to spend just $10 USD each per day, and isn't indicative of our normal budget, which is $25 USD each 😁 Som tam (spicy green papaya salad) is one of my favourite Thai dishes, and that must be at least 2 serves of veggies. We eat a lot of tropical fruit as well, as love the delicious rambutan, jackfruit, mango, and dragon fruit at prices so much lower than in NZ and the UK! ~ Mandy

In some areas, there are stalls with meals prepared for the monks. You can purchase and offer it to the monks and receive blessings in return. It’s a very humbling experience.

Noodles cost 20 baht. Still not the cheapest noodles in Chiang Mai In Chiang Mai city, there is a 3 baht noodle shop. which I have eaten since I was a child I was born and raised in Chiang Mai. Now I'm 35 years old and when I go home I still often stop by to eat 3 baht noodles. There is also Khao Soi for 25 baht per bowl And another beautiful place to visit is Chiang Mai University. And the night market next to the university is a market with a lot of food and cheap prices as well.😁😁🙏🙏

Hi Ian. Thanks for the lovely comment. Yes we eat street food all the time here in SE Asia and very rarely do we get sick. I mean it has happened in the past but only a few times in 30 years of travel. I guess our stomachs become more accustomed to different bacteria the more exposure they get. If I was travelling only once a year for a two week holiday then maybe I would be more susceptible. Generally it's common sense too. If a place is popular and lots of people are eating there with a high turnover then it should be ok. Everything in life has an element of risk I suppose. It's certainly worth it for all the delicious things to discover in Thailand. 😋

Hi Mandy and Lee, Loved the vlog, and the fact that you could have comfortably spent even less! Thai food is so delicious, why would you want to eat anything else. Hubby and I are definitely heading to Thailand and surrounding countries for extended periods of time when he retires. So I am just packing for my next trip, Cyprus to UAE to Saudi Arabia. The route is dictated by Wizz. £100 each way. Am in Medina for my birthday which will be epic, then off to Alulu. Will be keeping an eye on the budget for sure. Can't wait to go for that swim in the sea in Abu Dhabi, just like Lee. My only concern is my belongings 😢. Btw Hubby is convinced we will bump into one day 😂😂😂
