When were you frustrated by decluttering?

When so much time went into a couple of months build up of all the stuff I ignored and it was just overwhelming how much time it took to re-organise, 10minutes a day decluttering makes a huge difference

Setting up for and having a yard sale to get rid of the clutter that I thought could be sold. Because I overpriced most of the stuff I ended up donating it to the Humane Society Thrift Store which involved six trips to and from their donation dropoff.

I love how you mentioned that with minimalism, sometimes one has to go slower, not everyone can throw away everything in an instant. I've been decluttering since 2019 and each year I do a "decluttering party" to see what other things I want to give away, and there are always a lot, because I am growing into a more minimalistic life but I take my time ❤❤.

8:33 it took me 2+ years to tackle a room in our house that had been a dumping ground for 'I'll figure out what to do with it later' stuff and later never came to the point there was barely enough space to open the door. I decided to tackle it with the goal of turning the space into a home office/ studio and it's now my favourite room in the house.

Do you stay in the cold bath for 20 minutes or can you do shorter and then it goes away? Thank you for the advice.

Combine it with a sauna and it will be even better. Sauna will basically stimulate your blood vessels and cause them to dilate, which lowers blood pressure and it's more pleasant to take a cold shower or ice bath after sauna than just doing it alone at some point in the day. I've been doing both for many years now almost daily. Better sleep, less stress and anxiety, better skin, better immune system, no sinus congestion, regulates blood sugar, strengthens immune system. Lots of positive effects to muscle recovery and fat browning also, list just goes on @@kattrinaj6575

My advice is to start small and build up gradually as you adapt to the cold. You can start by just doing cold showers for instance (hot, 30 second cold, then hot again). Do it daily and work your way to 10 minute cold showers. I do ice bath only in the winter then the lake is frozen, and typically not without combination of a sauna. @@loriloucks-loricanhelp2771

The "Modern Medical System" is primarily about medicating people and NOT about getting to the route cause of the problem. Pharmaceutical companies just want to push more and more drugs because they make tons of $$ and money is the only goal for those companies as far as I'm concerned. I'm all for taking a more natural solution to conditions. First and foremost eliminating many of the toxic foods in our diets. That in and of itself would probably help most people in a major way. Too many chemicals, seed oils and just plain crap in the American food supply.

100% true. I stayed in France for awhile and ate fresh garden foods and whole grain unprocessed breads, and only cold pressed extra virgin olive oil, and farm fresh chicken. I lost 20 lbs without doing anything, my skin cleared, and felt like I could conquer the world.

I've been battling an unexplained skin rash since 08/17 and have been to urgent care 3 times, my allergy doctor twice, and my PCP numerous times but to no avail. I've tried multiple otc topicals and oral meds along with those prescribed by the aforementioned doctors. I'm finally going to see a dermatologist tomorrow and I actually can't wait for them to do a biopsy, something you probably don't hear everyday. The itch has been excruciating and randomly pops up all over my body.

Agreed! I just sold a gaming device the other day for some extra cash and the feeling of letting it go felt so good. Admittedly, having the thing was stressful. It reminds me of when The Minimalists talk about the cost of an item extending beyond dollars. For me, it was an extra thing to charge and it was something I was oddly stressed about using or not using. Simply not having it saves me both time and money. I have zero regrets.

I loove that you talk about icebaths. I live in Sweden and did icebaths from I was a child and until I become a mother. Now I am a pensionist struggleing with inflammation in my body and wondering why on earth I stopped… Well I know why but I could have started as soon as I didn’t need babysitters. I remember getting out of the water, I would swim in the sea, and my body would just be so warm and even when it is below zero celsius I was warm so we would stay on the wooden bridge talking before we went inside again. And like Nicodemus said, somtimes I would go back to the sauna with several swims between. 🥰 I will start that habit again this coming week! Today is Sunday. Thank You for doing what you do! ❤ Love this pod so much, whish I could afford the whole thing. Tonight I will have a cold shower 😘

Just start with cold showers. No need to spend money. Either after your regular hot shower, or only cold. When starting off it might help to think about the millions of Wim Hof aficionados around the world who do the same coldexpisure and the milliards of people around the globe who don't dispose of warmwaterfacilities. Speaking about downsides ... my 3 weeks of summer vacation i have spent at home intensely decluttering, foolishly hoping to be done by the end of week 3 and hoping to be able to have staycation when i DONT declutter. Guess what? I am continuing with decluterring months later. But it at least it is finally starting to be visible at least a bit :-) . Its getting slightly complicated by taking supply and space intensive art course, but i am taking it as additional motivation to get space for what i want to do!

Ojai Joshua, in SoCal we live next to a large body of cold water called the ocean (65°F in summer, 56°F in winter), but is it cold enough to provide any health benefits? If so, how long would you have to stay in the water to do anything? (Dr Sean O’Mara said the water itself is beneficial.)

I am not a doctor but my advice to you is to do research on intermittent fasting and keto diet. If you set out two days out of the week where you eat a meal a day only, during the fast your body will reduce inflammation. Fasting & keto, cold therapy, sauna and swimming . This will make make your body very resilient, get rid of inflammation, reduce chance of type 2 diabetes, cancer, and other nasty stuff

I’ve had hashimotos since I was 13. I’m 28 now and no doctor has ever told me if I don’t take my pills I will die. She is being over dramatic. I’ve also taken ice baths. Not sure why people struggle to stay in it. My first ice bath was over an hour. After the first few seconds/minutes you start to feel very warm in the water, I might even go as far as to say hot. You don’t even realize how cold you are until you get out. I then proceeded to shiver for a few hours under multiple blankets. I’ve only done an ice baths a few times so maybe it does help over time, but I just feel it’s important to point out that in both situations it’s really not as bad as she is saying.

maybe somebody can recommend something, I'm doing cold showers a bit over a year but I can't increase the exposure. I usually don't mind the cold too much, I don't dread to turn it on, I like the feeling afterwards, I don't skip. but I can't do this advise of breathing calmly - my stomach is more vulnerable and when it hits it I gasp and then my breath goes like I'm in a panic attack (from what I hear, I don't have those). it's like a get a punch in the gut and can't control the jerk reaction. overall the only thing from my experience that makes things easier for me is keeping my head up high during the procedure.

It’s wonderful this woman turned around her health, but ya your doctor didn’t/couldn’t turn around and tell the “waiting room” full of people etc. Yes because the doctor is a Doctor of MEDICINE. That’s what they went to school to do/learn. For example my family DR. I wanted to do psilocybin to treat my depression. He didn’t know anything about it. He knew no research on it. He had to take time to look into it. Decide if he was comfortable before he could even consider providing doctor assisted psilocybin treatment for me. People that have pHD in natural path etc go to those doctors if you want alternative medicine. I am Canadian, we just had a cold snap of -43 with a windchill of -51. I too live chronically ill and I feel the best in winter! We live lake front. Ice plunges in that lake are incredible. Do I still take pharmaceuticals.. yes. I do because unfortunately for me it does not heal all my issues. ❤
