Stumbled upon your video and I wanted to say I really enjoyed it. I just started FSX a couple of days ago as a complete novice and have been playing some of the lessons. I appreciate not only your explanation of all the acronyms. I also really appreciate your explanation of the navigation radio even though i know it wasn't the point of the video. I learned a lot just by watching and by your helpful explanations. Thank you.

Thank you for this Peter. if I may make a suggestion. I believe you will have a better experience with Plan G, if you have it running on a separate Computer than FSX, I have mine running on an old laptop at the side of my Main FSX monitor. You can link Plan G and FSX up through your home network using Simconnect (its free and easy to set up, just a notepad file in the correct location). That way, when linked up. you can send the correct frequencies directly to the radios just by clicking on the VOR or other navigation beacon in Plan G. That is really handy for me, also having a real time map updating your position and surrounding area is a good thing to have open without having to open the FSX map up or keep looking at your GPS.

Oh Obviously, this can be done on the same pc on a second monitor aswel, But I prefer the network version as you can keep the hassle of computing Plan g away from the FSX rig.

Daniel Gregory Hi Daniel, yes infact I do have a secondary laptop running with FSUIPC connected with Plan G running, if you watch some of my more recent videos you might see an inset on the bottom left hand corner of the screen and I maximize it in the video ever now and then to show whats going on. This particular video I was not in FSX so I didn't need to have plan G on the secondary comp. Thanks!

Thanks Peter - a very helpful video and think this will be very useful to me as a newbie UKVGA glider pilot! In RL I have flown from Parham and also enjoyed power flights from Shoreham. Almost giving up on Horizon VFR Photographic Scenery as difficult to determine two dimensional images in what is a three dimensional world. Are you perhaps using a different scenery program or do you have a super high power graphics card and computer system? What was to be my final flight was just a fun thing from Parham to the coast and then west. When I saw The Spire in the distance and encountered a super thermal taking me up to over 5000 feet in height decided to cross over to the Isle of Wight and found Sandown Airfield below me! After landing there took a short trip to Bembridge that I have made a home until my navigation skills improves! It is difficult to get lost on such a small island even with 2D scenery. Great I avoided intrusion into Southampton Controlled Airspace and I believe that is a problem for them in RL!

It was fun trying to work out which was Goodwood and which the IOW airfield, as you used them both interchangeably !!!! :-) Also, you could have shown a flight away from the Goodwood VOR showing the use of Radials together with the destination NDB perhaps ? Nice video though - keep it up

Oliver, I normally use a second monitor for my view of plan G. I don't think putting the plan G view on a separate laptop as you move across the countryside would move with you.
@PeterMatthess10 жыл бұрын
It would if you have an FSUIPC connection with WideFS, it creates a 'wormhole' between the two computers and fools the programs into thinking they are all on one system, then they will work
@PeterMatthess10 жыл бұрын
It's a great way of splitting up the processing tasks for the computer, if you want your main PC to focus only on FSX performance, and not on all the sub programs you have running that inject stuff into FSX
@charlesallsop24709 жыл бұрын
Hi Peter really like this programme but not quite sure what should happen when "connecting" do you just see the Plan G map or can you switch views between two monitors Ta! Charlie
@PeterMatthess9 жыл бұрын
I have Plan G working on my laptop which is connected via FSUIPC, once you get the hang of how it works it all makes sense and splits up the processing between two systems, if you dont want to do that then having it all on one PC will work fine, you just have to minimize FSX to get to Plan G, or have FSX running in windowed mode like I always do and just maximize Plan G to see whats going on, hope this helps!

If you configure simconenct correctly , yes also works great with Lockheed's prepar3D and has the advantage of no random crashes over fsx rubbish

Have you lot never heard of Alt- Tab or Shft- Tab to toggle between loaded progs?
@PeterMatthess9 жыл бұрын
yes obviously, but to actually record both views of FSX and planG at the same time you need to systems running, Fraps does not record two instances at the same time

So if i play fsx on my desktop pc and i get plan g on my laptop and plug that into my PC so i can see them both at once.
@PeterMatthess10 жыл бұрын
if you get FSUIPC to network both computers together yes. FSUIPC works like a worm hole, it means that when you run applications on your laptop, those applications think FSX is being run ON THE LAPTOP, fooling it and then it just wormholes over a shared network all the data to your desktop and visa versa. Pretty cool really

TOTALLY CONFUSING! TIP #1: Become familiar with terms associated with aeronautical navigation BEFORE you start talking. TIP #2: NEVER take somebody else's software and take credit as a 'Tutorialist'! You ain't HAPPENIN'! TIP #3: Why in God's name would you try to 'teach' somebody about something you've 'never scratched the surface' of?... TIP #4: ORGANISE yourself!... Walk yourself through and take notes that YOU need to understand that you will encounter whilst you endeavor to teach others. Once YOU can REPEAT the process several times (PRACTICE!) with out error, then you will have some semblance of what it is you are trying to say, and how to say it to those you wish to 'teach'. Worse 13 minutes I've ever had in aviation!
@PeterMatthess5 жыл бұрын
I've learn't a fair amount in five years true. You have to start somewhere, all depends on what you want out of a video. obviously your expecting alot more than what I was capable of giving in a video at that point in my youtubing. I see you have done a few videos yourself on your channel a while back. I think you'll find its much easier to critique someone else's video quality and actually attain that quality of production in your own videos!
@surveyore75 жыл бұрын
@@PeterMatthess ... and you'll kindly note, I didn't presume to 'teach' anybody anything.
