I really love the good daedra’s connections to Lorkhan. Especially in the Khajiit pantheon, with Azura extracting the darkness from Lorkaj’s torn open chest, Mephala being allied with Lorkaj, and Boethra wearing the death shroud of Lorkaj and waging war on the lunar lattice

So, okay, my thoughts regarding Azura's curse on the dark elves may very well not actually be a curse. I mean, yeah, the fact that their appearance changed to a decidedly more "hideous" or vile form in comparison to the Chimer seems bad, but what I suggest is this: the Tribunal may not have necessairly known what they were getting into when they started to tamper with the heart of Lorkharn. In fact, maybe their interference with it severed Azura's ties to the Chimer race, ultimately revoking her influence over them and instead becoming connected to the land of the Red Mountain via the Heart's divine connection to the Dunmeri race. It seems easy to suggest that Azura actively turned them, but it could be the case that, as the Tribunal appeared the victors of this historic event, they were the ones who got to write history, no? Surely would love to see FudgeMuppet's thoughts on this assuming I'm not horribly misugided in this manic-theory lmao

I am leaning towards a similar thought process, that them playing around with powers beyond their understanding, an artefact that we know can affect an entire civilization at once despite only a lone individual tampering with it. For all we know, the Tribunal caused the change and then blamed Azura. That quotation that Vivec wrote down suggests it, that it is not her action but theirs.

35:20 You guys are forgetting how useful Azura's ring was. Running drained your fatigue in Morrowind so you had to take breaks from running and walk to let your fatigue replenish in case you ran into an enemy. Azura's ring is the only enchanted object in game that constantly restores your fatigue so you could run all day long without worrying about your fatigue draining. Just a little nitpick but otherwise great video, I hope we get the Dagoth Ur podcast soon!

I feel like I’m the only person who thinks this, but I feel like azura isn’t the prince of dusk and dawn, or prophecies. She’s the daedric prince of change. She is represented by dusk and dawn, of changing from night to day, or day to night. She changes some random race into khajiit, she changes aldmer into chimer, she changes chimer into dunmer. Her main artifact, azura’s star, can be changed into the black star. She also creates prophecies, or another way of looking at it is changing fate. She also changes that one dwemer from alive to dead. Edit: Also, I know most people attribute change to padomai and mehrunes dagon, but their change is different. Padomai is uncontrolled change, and is more concept than anything else, while mehrunes dagon is closer to revolution, rather than outright change. Azura is controlled change.

Really late reply, but my theory on why the anticipations mirror each of the Tribunal in canon is because they mirror the worst aspects of the Tribunal. Vivec and Mephala because vivec lies constantly to himself and his people and wants to be everything despite in sothas words "he can only be vivec", Azura and Sotha sil because they both are devoted providers of their followers even if they get hurt in the process be it mentally or etc, and almalexia and boethia because Almalexia betrays everyone around her, constant revolt and warlike behavior.

Azura is my favorite Daedric Prince. I love her whole aesthetic, mythology with the Chimer and Dunmer and that she is pretty much the closest to being "good" for a Daedra. She loves her followers, want them to love themselves, and love her in return. I say that's a price I'd be willing to pay if I lived in TES and had to chose a god. /The Aedra are too bureaucratic with the church and distant for the average worshipper, plus I don't really trust them due to the whole thing with Lorkhan/.

I don't understand why the Chimer resent being changed so drastically. I mean, before they just looked like boring old Altmer, if Vivec's shiny half is anything to go by. Now they have skin that comes in blues, greens, grays, and even nearly black, and eyes that range the whole gamut of reds (and silver-white if ESO is any indication) to also black. They look a little scary, but overall MUCH cooler and more unique than before. I'd hardly call it a curse compared to the thousands of horrible things a Daedric Prince COULD have done to their followers.

Actually, I have a theory that Azura didn’t curse them, but rather instantaneously cause the change that would have naturally occurred had the Chimer stayed in Morrowind. If you look at every race of elves, the Bosmer, the Maormer, the Falmer, and the Altmer, they’re appearances are all dependent on the land they live with, wood elves all have a brownish skin akin to the woods they live in. Snow elves have skin pale as the snow. Maormer developed features you’d expect from creatures that live in the sea. And Altmer have a bright golden skin akin to the bright golden atmosphere often associated with the Summerset Isles, so it makes sense that perhaps the chimer would like wise begin to become grey like the ash of their new home. But why would Azura do this? To prove to herself how vain the Tribunal were by them rejecting what would naturally happen in favor of maintaining their own image, incidentally her point was only half proven, forever remaining in the balance.

I think it's also worth considering that Azura who values love, affection and loyalty more than the other daedric princes would be affected more by these aspects. Which makes it more painful when she's betrayed because its like someone you always cherish always betrays you. Plus negative emotions are more powerful in terms of spontaneous effect which would explain why her spiteful side can be extreme.

For the record, the Ring of Azura was quite a good item in Morrowind. Permanent enchantments (as opposed to ones you had to activate) were extremely rare in Morrowind, and permanent enchantments that restored your resource pools were almost unheard of. Usually, to attain such an item required a Grand Soul Gem filled with a grand soul (typically a Golden Saint) worth 60,000 gold. So the fact that the Ring of Azura restores 3 Fatigue per second on type of Night Eye is pretty impressive by the standard of magic items in that game.
