FuelTech FT550 Standalone ECU - User Review / Overview

💥 Just thought I'd make a short video for anyone looking for a high quality and affordable standalone ECU. It has come to my surprise that not many people have heard about FuelTech as they are still quite new (mostly popular in Brazil and the US). But anyways, I am using the FuelTech FT550 standalone ECU in my 2JZ Swapped Nissan Cefiro, which put down 782 WHP on E85. This is just a general overview going over some its key features and how it functions in my car. Please note that I am not a professional tuner (I leave that stuff to the pros).

getting this for my 2zz GTS, thank you for the review ! 2 questions , since you touched the screen to start, how would you prevent theft ? 2. could boost be shown on the screen while you drive ?

The key has to be in the ignition and you have to power on the car first (before pressing the start button on the screen). When you connect your laptop to the ECU, you can arrange the screen layout however you like and choose the info you want to see or hide.

You can also disconnect the screen and stick it in your pocket

@@DeanBKK basically, as i understand, the key has to be in the ignition to turn on the BCM which further turns on the FT550. The immobilizer is no longer paired to the stock ECU.

I am confused about existing fusebox and relays. For example - the radiator fan relay wire goes to the fusebox right? Where would i connect my FT ecu wire for that?

Hi Dean, with your ECU, could you use the stock gauge cluster if you wanted to? Or would it be a headache to hook up the old school analog dash?

Yea a lot of people keep the stock gauge cluster and have the ECU mounted in the glove box or somewhere else. I took mine out bc the speedo wasn't working and I just wasn't a fan of the old gauge cluster.

Yes sir that new FT700 is sick! Insanely expensive but if you can afford it, go for it! For my needs and a street car, I think it's a bit overkill.

Not sure my wiring guy did it, not me. But you can use OEM body wiring most likely.

you have to wire each indicator wire to an white input wire. Then set it up in the software, inputs section

It's the TBO3 kit, which I believe is made locally in Thailand only.

Well, i would say its basic ECU, id rather reccomend ECU Master with android dash, much more functional

It's far from basic. ECU Master is your preference. Doesnt make it better than FuelTech, and vice versa. 😂
