Will!! I've done some research about "hitting a wall" after years of working out. In most cases, it is due to the decreasing marginal release of dopamine that you get from working out. Essentially, if you rely on pre-workout, great music and other factors to get you going in the gym, your enjoyment will eventually flatline/decrease. The solution is to cycle days of using pre-workout, listening to music, podcasts, etc. so you don't overstimulate in the gym and your dopamine levels will be much more stable. Just food for thought!

I was experiencing the same mental burnout last year when I was lifting 5 days in a row. I switched to doing a 4 day full-body split where I lift every other day, and do cardio on the non-lifting days. I’m genuinely excited to lift every time I go in now, I feel more recovered, my strength and aesthetic gains have not slowed down since I turned down the frequency. Long story short, switching things up to something that feels more sustainable can make you feel more excited to train long-term. Great advice you gave there.

Bro, i don't usually like entertainment stuff, but you are different, natural lifter, confident, cool tiny jokes, and natural on the camera, combo with good info. The message that you deliver and I resonate with it is, take it easy don't stress too much, be consistent Train hard and you'll be ok

I moved from a 6 day a week PPL split to a 4 day a week Torso/Limbs split 2 months ago and I am absolutely loving it. Breaking long standing plateaus and the best part is - if an emergency or something pops up missing a day isn't a huge deal, because I don't actually have to skip the day as a whole - I can just push my workout schedule back a day because I will always have at least 2 days of rest between working the same muscle groups. Current setup is: Torso (Chest, Back, Core) Limbs (Legs, Shoulders, Arms) Monday: Torso with lower chest/back emphasis Tuesday: Limbs with quad emphasis Wednesday: OFF Thursday: Torso with upper chest/back emphasis Friday: Limbs with hamstring emphasis Weekends: OFF Sometimes I will use Saturday to get a little extra work in if my body feels good but it's mostly just a quick circuit style workout with lighter weights than usual. Example: EZ bar curls to skull crushers to monkey rows, to pendulum squats. I'll typically do the circuit 3 times with 4 or 5 minutes rest inbetween. Gets me in and out in about 25-30 minutes but lets me get volume when I feel like it. And as you said is important, it is FUN for me! So many years of PPL got so stale to me, I felt like I was just going through the motions.

Hard to concentrate on your work a standing desk is more than enough
@RedSeraph_2 жыл бұрын
Before I made the decision to better my health, appearance, etc.. I was homeschooled since middle school and all of high school. Sitting down 24/7. All my hobbies and entertainment were also online. So I probably had flattest ass in the world, AND eventually I started getting anxious. Like I was tired of sitting. The want to move around just got crazy intense. And honestly, I can't really stand sitting down anymore. If I need to use my Laptop, I just prop it on the kitchen counter. If I'm going to play on my console, Ima stand for most of the time. So a treadmill desk would be awesome as hell. But a standing desk in itself sounds like a more realistic investment, finacially wise too.
@Exercise4CheatMeals2 жыл бұрын
@@xenaburg2362 i definitely think it depends on the work, but I can get by no problem with most things. Editing, like Will said, probably wouldnt be feasible at least after the rough draft phase.

I use my recumbent bike and game on my pc at the same time. There is a specific bike on Amazon that works well if you have a height adjustable desk. I don’t have one, I play sideways to my desk, but when I was using a high table a few months back instead of a desk, I used that inclined bike. I’ve been doing that for a long time. Makes cardio extremely easy to get in.

I've found that introducing even more variation has helped keep things interested and keep my motivated. When strength only training got stale for me I added in some explosive movements like power cleans and jerks, then when it happened again I switched to a more powerbuilding style of training. Strength and aesthetics will be maintained if you're training hard enough and you get that newbie feeling all over again. Highly recommend

The desk treadmill looks pretty cool. Wish I could get my own treadmill too to get more steps in but I live on the first floor and I worry I could make too much noise for the elderly couple that lives under me. Good thing the weather's getting better so you can just go outside for walks more often. 😁 Also I've been having more fun and motivation to go to the gym the last couple weeks, going every two days and being able to last longer on the treadmill or lifting more weights feels amazing. Also starting to look leaner. People like you are a great inspiration for me, keep up the good work and I hope you'll get around having more fun in the gym again. 👍
