Suggestion. Whenever I do my run up, I always go to full power and check my static RPM and re-adjust my mixture for best power and then enrich. It may be a 16th of an inch. Your engine will thank you for it because in certain circumstances, especially high density altitude, you are over, reaching the engine and subjecting thoseplugs to foul quicker. After I establish that I do buy regular run up and leave the mixture where it is at for takeoff. Personal preference. I cycle the prop three times. First I look for of course RPM drop. The second cycle I look for the manifold pressure to slightly increase momentarily. The third time I do it I watch my oil pressure. It should drop slightly and then spring back to where it was at. This way you get a good cycle of the prop and you get to see all that operating the prop does.

You’re a great aviator, but I never saw you use a check list. Always use a checklist to just back up your flows. It can save your life one day. Keep up the great flying, and happy landings!

The 210 is such a great workhorse airplane.

Just found one of my new favorite pilots. Smooth flying and radio work! Did my flight training in Longview not too far from you.

Hey @shinc4054, check out the video that drops at 3pm CST today, it covers my preflight planning process. Let me know if you think it is too long.

Enjoyed the video. Not a pilot but it seemed like you handled the IFR conditions very professionally.

Check out this week's video, I go in depth on my flight planning process. I would really like your feedback about the video- Good? Bad? too Long?

A wing camera would be a nice addition to help mix up the camera angles. Nice video!

I agree, however I am concerned about the speeds generated by the 210. Do you think having the camera on the glareshield pointed straight at my face would be better than off to the side?

Hey Matt, great video. Curious about what app you’re using on the iPad. Also, wondering if you have/were using autopilot once you popped up out of the tops. It looked really smooth but also, the yoke seemed to be moving on its own. Never had a chance to use autopilot

I use ForeFlight on the iPad. I hand flew it in climb and then AP once on top. I love hand flying imc but kept it on during descent this time.

Hey Jon, The video that goes live today at 3PM has a lot of the foreflight app in it. I hope you will check it out.

Never understood why pilots write 10 minutes after departure because every altitude given with an expect is always 99.9% 10 minutes. I usually save my ink and just write the two altitudes. Question is how many pilots set their watch to say hey, it’s been 10 minutes. I better start climbing because they didn’t give me my new altitude?

I understand where you are coming from. However let’s remember the intent of the clearance. The intent is to establish where you are cleared to go, how to get there and what altitudes to fly. This establishes a set of “knowns” so that in the event of a communication failure, the pilot knows how to proceed AND ATC knows what the pilot should be doing next even if they are not communicating. The video I have planned for 6-29 will cover this. I hope you check it out and let’s discuss.
