I liked seeing the men side by side with the women more than I thought I would. Strongwomen does not get enough attentions, this is a really great way to get them some. They definitely deserve it

Why did they do Tom and Peacock like that? C'mon y'all! The end times they gave may have been a bit generous, but as soon as the timer went off and neither athlete was at the starter position... Multiple people need to be able to say, "STOP! Reset." If more members of staff just had the ability to reset a start, this false start would have been avoidable.
@Moin012310 күн бұрын
It should have been restarted but it's great that they took the time off at least. A restart can be problematic as well when you're 100% locked in and then need to get ready again. Matt also looked faster so I don't think any time was lost for tom.

@49:05 Thomas Evans made a good point here! some people didn't like the mixed event, as it was distracting for them? I kinda agree cause I remember being confused and looked both sides when Hooper and Thompson were lifting. but his point was good too. when its 2 men, and 2 women, "good luck but.. not too good" cause you are still racing each other here, the person across the hall from you isn't your opponent. you done? or need a break first. Cheer the other person. Or when someone was done early, they came over to hype up the one who had lifts still

@Karxin100012 күн бұрын
Why do they always insist on shoehorning the woman in? I have nothing against them; in fact, I think it's great. But all it does is distract from both athletes. Why not just have a proper head-to-head where you can get excited to have an appropriate race that matters in terms of points? That's far more respectful for all athletes.
@thechumpsbeendumped.779712 күн бұрын
It’s an odd decision and does no favours to either group of amazing athletes.
@Karxin100012 күн бұрын
Yeah, exactly. As a viewer, you can't concentrate on either athlete. The commentary team has to keep flipping, and having proper head-to-head competition pushes the athletes more. It's an abysmal decision on behalf of the event organisers.

They need viewers for the women. I doubt this is subsidies like many other women leagues are. It's business after all and they need to get the popularity up.

@user-ii7xc1ry3x11 күн бұрын
@@_Just_Andy_ Exactly. It is not as good for the athlete, and short term, it is not good for the competition or the viewers. Having said that, it's the best for the future of the sport, and as such, it becomes the best decision for everyone long-term.

@@borinets Those were two different competitions, no? They probably didn't want to make two sets of each implement, wanted the same ref for each competitor from each competition and thought they could indirectly get more people interested in the women's comp.
@gshaindrich8 күн бұрын
@@borinets still makes no sense! While women are equal to men at a ~socio-economic level, they are different in their physiology because of different hormone levels and evolution. They are in general a little shorter, with a more gracile build than men. So how stupid is it to expect them to do the same weights? It wouldn´t even work if you pair them by bodyweight. Showing women and men, open weight competitors side by side with adjusted weights IS the fairest thing to do!
