You said your piece, now close the ATM. Now, not be available for them

Good for you. You are finally doing things for yourself. 😊

I feel for her but it's going to be an uphill battle. Op's allowed herself to be the doormat for so long that her family is going to really fight that change
@mariefreeman423523 күн бұрын
@Ell611 yeah they will still try to get to her. I just hope she's strong enough to steer clear of any traps they will set out

I know what it's like to be used like an atm. My family only called me when they needed money. I had a talk with them, now they only call to check on me.

The one thing i would tell op to remember, “They need you, you dont need them”

I love the way they keep saying that family helps each other. But her family never helps her. Somehow that escapes them.

Yay you should be so proud of yourself for the way you’ve handled things without anyone telling you how to handle things and you deserve a holiday for your accomplishments 😊🎉

I would straight up tell them. I’m not helping anyone anymore because you don’t return the help. End it. Say no more.

To that cryptic text from the mom I would've replied 'oh im here, yall are the ones silent' and when she asked how OP was doing, I would've gone on a huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuge message about how I felt great and things were so much better now lol

what a horrible family you were born into. you're too good for them and that's part of why they were bleeding you dry to try and bring you down to their level.

Op I wish I knew you, I would of showed you how I dealt with my family that is like this. Ihad a friend wake me up amd man it was wonderful. They stop talking tome and guess what I laughed. When they did the silent treatment I went on trips. I would postWHEN YOU DONT HAVE LEECHES SUCKING YOU DRY! RHE WORLD IS YOURS? lol that’s Ben 15 years ago and I am so gappy!

I don't know if this is a true story, but it's really good what she did. Boundaries are important, especially with family.

I would not have helped them until them acknowledge how the treated me and makes me feel.

Remember....No love is unconditional. True love is based on mutual respect. If someone doesn't respect you, if they don't treat you the way they treat the rest of the family (or at least their co-workers and strangers), then they don't love you. You can respect someone you don't love, you can't love someone you don't respect.

Hang on, she said that they only ever contacted her when they wanted something, but when she put her foot down, she was lamenting the fact that they weren’t contacting her anymore. So they _were_ contacting her regularly.

The way I would have addressed it if this was my story would just be a text to the group chat “why do you guys only ever talk to me when you want something from me?”
