all thrift stores/goodwill/salvation up in price, USPS up, high clothing saturation, you can clearly tell how much sellers are struggling. then you add employee/office building etc. if you arent doing volume from the bins or another source chances are someone isnt making ends meet. obviously awesome items at appropriate prices always sells. good luck to you brother. appreciate your content. and true on techn. he got fed up with it all and doing the wholesale game mainly now. rare/awesome always sells, just trying to hoard all of that is the key.

I think from being a long time viewer of your content the writing was on the wall. Everyone has a difficulty whether it's cost of living, cost of space, no thrift stores around them, high prices in a metropolitan area at the thrift stores, or lack of inventory causing you to drive further. And your case it seems your cost of living is very low but you need to travel far to get your items. The items that you pick up is very much a volume model similar to Tech which would need a store of tens of thousands of items to produce a decent income and livable wage. Is a ton of work especially if you're going out and picking all of these items from thrift stores as opposed to a flea market or having them bought for you and picked up or delivered. After viewing almost all of your content over the last year or so I believe the lack of knowledge is what you are missing. Hearing some of the explanations of the items you picked up or the things that you find that seems that you haven't quite researched to exhaustion the things that are available within a few hours radius of you and making a point to go find those items as opposed to continuing to pick up the same items that you've had over and over and saturated markets. It is very doable whether you do a volume model or you do a high ASP model, and they both require a lot of work in different ways. Wishing for your success in whatever Direction you decide to go but trying to blame the increase and costs across the board I don't think it's just, we all knew or should know that the cost of everything is always going to go up that includes cost of goods, shipping, living, supplies, etc.

You’ll be alright bro. This is cyclic. Economic conditions impacts everyone. You on the right track. Multiple streams of income is the way. Most resellers forget or don’t invest some of their profits. Put some the that money in growth assets. Once goodwill realises that 50% of their buyers are resellers they may fall back, or lose lots of revenue. All the best bro

I agree man. I been doing this full time for a few years now. I don’t think it’s really worth it anymore. I’m moving on to other things and ways to make money. I see the pattern of costs of good going up every year, shipping going up, fees on eBay going up, Uncle Sam finding more ways to tax us… and more people are joining the game causing saturation in the markets.. If eBay took out less fees or the shipping came down I might continue to do it full time. But every year we make less money for the same work we do. I will be doing this as a side hustle now
@TaylorExchange3 ай бұрын

I think tech's reseller group makes 30k a month. Over 1000 memebers at 35 dollars a month. Because of social media, you can make more money talking about the thing than doing it. Another example, tracis kelce signed a 100 million dollar contract for his podcast... so he is getting more money to talk about football than play it.
@TaylorExchange3 ай бұрын
For sure, if not more.
@mkedidas3 ай бұрын
Tech left because he didn't want to renew his 5 year lease. He would still be making an absurd amount of money right now. Sure, it has gotten harder. But the top 5% of clothing resellers are still killing it. People still want quality items at a good price. Sellers that source low margins items ($15-$20 sales price) won't make it in this economy.
@TaylorExchange3 ай бұрын
Interesting, he did have a massive space. I think if resellers can source for cheap they could get by.
@mkedidas3 ай бұрын
@TaylorExchange A reseller can get by with lower margin items if it was just their cost of living going up. But it's different when everybody's cost of living goes up. For example, the buyer who typically looks for a $15-$20 used pair of pants on ebay, likely makes a lower income. And they are likely struggling in this economy. The buyers that are typically looking for a $35-$45 pair of used pants are less likely to be affected by the economy. In my opinion, the low margin, high volume method won't work in this economy.

Appreciate the honesty. I tried it full-time and couldn't find enough nice pieces to make selling clothing worth my time. The advice I got was "thrift harder bro" toxic positivity. As if I'm passing over the Gucci to get the Old Navy. Hard-goods was a mess because it was hard to tell the condition of things that were complex, like electronics, that often break in subtle ways. Switched to Amazon and haven't looked back. Still like thrifting for myself though.

If the economy keeps heading in the same direction the days of reselling full time by sourcing in the thrifts, flea markets, garage sales etc.. it wont last much longer.. maybe 2-3 years its still incredibly viable for part time income, but unless you have consitent suppliers then full time is slowly on the way out

Many full time ebay sellers are leaving/shifting to whatnot, other things. It is a perfect storm that is destroying profits. a) consumers are strapped, b) suppliers now compete with us /prices are not sustainable c) shipping has increased d) ebay is nicking and dime us to death with fees.
