They are going so cheap now. Great that you found one with decent arches and tailgate. A good tailgate replacement is £350ish now alone. I’m 18 months in on my TDV8. Similar start, battery, brake pads, tyres, engine service. Then Followed EGR replacements and turbo replacement after one went pop. Gearbox services definitely to shake out any judders and cracked manifold cover is inevitable (about £1k at specialist).

Got my 2010 Autobiography Black TDv8 with 155k out of BCA back in July…Was expecting it to be a bit of a pup but being 3 owners from new and all the history inc decent tyres on it turned out to be a beauty! 2500 miles later it’s been great , done all the little jobs myself which kept the costs down.

Those draws indicate its previous owners were shooters, they are normally used as gun draws and not tool chests. £1500 is my guess.

I had one and it was great. although, a turbo went around 125k. i had them both done. much easier to do on the l322 than the sport as they can be done through the wheel wells and not a body off job. also, the inlet manifolds will crack around the same time. turbos cost 2k to have done including refurbishment from midland turbo. the inlet manifolds are about 350quid the passenger side went on mine.
@fullfat4x4Күн бұрын
Thanks Rob, some good info there! I did wonder how feasible it would be to do a turbo through the wheel well on the 3.6.

Sills and rear wheel arch covers off and inspect I would. Treat and wax etc 😊

I bought a 2008 at auction vogue SE spec. Black, black and ivory interior. It needed the inlet manifolds done. €900. If you can match that you did well. 😊👍

I thought I’d cured myself when I bought a really cheap 1989 3.5 petrol classic RR, and being a shrewd biz-niz-man… sold it for a significant loss… Evidently not.

Im interesed to follow this. I bought a 130k mile 08 S/C last year. Stornoway grey with parchment interior. I bought it as prices started to tumble and had to spend a bit on deferred maintenance so im in too deep to sell anytime soon. But its not a main car, more of a plaything really.

Indeed, bought a 2005 4.4 Autobiography back in 2009, lasted me right up to 2017. Have to say that it didn’t start costing money until it hit 110,000mls, then all the items that all the forums say start to fail at 100,000mls started to fail. First, fuel pump, then the water cooled alternator, then the rad, then the electrical gremlins, then the suspension pump and the van is. Able to fix it all myself but the cost was still high. The L322 is now just a bit too old to be financially viable.

Document it, it may be an anomaly but it does show that there is some bargains around, and if it does turn out to be a dog, it’s educational..

I had a 08,95k miles nothing but trouble I'm afraid. Sold it and bought a 54 v8 petrol,no problems at all in 3yrs. 1750 my guess.
@fullfat4x4Күн бұрын
Interesting! What problems did you have? 54 plate - would that be the 4.4 BMW petrol V8?
@aprilia64ape54Күн бұрын
@@fullfat4x4 Yes 4.4 bmw,I've serviced it twice in 3yrs,including plugs,water pump replaced,runs lovely. Tdv8 problems,replaced egr valves due to smoke issue,mis diagnosed turbo went,then a mysterious drain developed after 6 months,some days I'd go to the car it was live but locked,I ended up fitting a isolator switch and sold it on. I go to Scotland 3 times a year,the tdv8 transported home numerous times in my ownership mainly electrical faults,it would go through batteries in 3 months.
