In the UK that would be a "late call", the fire had been burning for sometime before the fire service arrived on scene. I think the Ffs did a good job containing the fire, helped by a good hydrant pressure. A fire doubles in size for every minute that it burns, so a quick response by the public in calling the fire service, helps the fire service to help you. Nice work.

I can understand things taking a little more time for departments outside the cities, but isn't it normal to get inside a house (after the exterior flames have been knocked down) to stop the fire spreading from the roof/attic and or walls and destroying the whole house?? As much smoke that was pouring out of the eaves of that house on the right it seems obvious that the interior roof/attic space was involved at least moderately and quickly escalated and burned right through making a good size hole in the rooftop. Deck guns and hose streams work wonders if they are hitting the seat of the fire not spraying through smoke and until the fire broke through the roof on the two story it was an absolute waste to direct the deck gun onto it... they are designed to keep water out when they are still whole. I agree that efforts should have been made to use the deck gun on the garage and focus hand lines onto both exposure houses. Granted we can only see one angle and it’s the one opposite of where most of the engines park so we have no idea what was going on in the front. Everyone is criticizing or questioning why they didn’t see firefighters going inside (I’d hope they were), but the simple answer is they would make entry through the front door not take extra time to stretch a line to the back so it can be filmed. I do agree with the commenters that it took way too long to get lines to the C side (rear of the house) and when they did make it back there the firefighters were focused on the garage fire and not paying enough attention to the exposure house. I’m not a huge fan of assigning a division C officer on most fires but this one could have used someone back there to direct actions.

You're trying hard to make yourself sound like you know what your talking about but you obviously don't know shit. It seems like the bigger second house they’re not trying to fight the fire from inside you’re just fighting it from outside I may be wrong but that’s the way it looks

pretty good filming Jason just remember a lot of people like to watch how the ff attack the fire and the fire fighters did a good job with what looked like a deck gun and 1 attack line that I could see ,, The guy on the deck gun did good putting the wet stuff on the red stuff

These guys and gals did a Great job at putting water on the house by 3:34 minutes. They successfully put out the fire on the D side of the residence. It's not easy being a volunteer. Go thank a Firefighter or a Cop.

Slow wispy grey smoke is starving of oxygen and has a chance of being extinguished from the inside, but can still be quite hot. The blacker the smoke, the more oxygen, it’s VERY HOT! When black smoke is rolling, the structure is a loss. Protect exposed neighboring structures, (defensive position). When black smoke turns white, the fire is dying. Must be an all volunteer department?

Unfortunately the two story house suffered more damage because of its own highly flammable vinyl siding.
@richardyork94953 жыл бұрын
Well,I wouldn’t necessarily say vinyl sidling is “ highly” flammable. Gasoline is “highly” flammable, vinyl siding just burns.

I'm the type of person that would grab a hose and try to put the fire out at the neighbors house.

Gary Rosie that was a defensive fire, no point hustling when you don’t need to save anyone. Hustling = injuries. Also, I’d join the backyard brigade.
@wiretamer57104 жыл бұрын
I respect your attitude, but I doubt your could get near enough to hit the fire with a garden hose. Radiant heat is a huge deal! If you had been on the spot before the garage fire got out of hand, then YES. You could have made a world of difference.

the hoses in the rear and sides of the engines are stacked neatly in a sequence called overlays because when we arrive on scene we need to have the hoses hooked to the pumps and the hydrants and charged in 5 minutes.

I feel bad for whoever lives here, but it’s incredible what fire can do. It almost has a natural beauty to it, like it’s saying “I know this is scary, but it’s restarting time.”

If the FD had vented the roof of the house, there would have a lot less damage to the house or it's contents. Why did they not put up any ladder or call for an aireral units?
@jasonasselin6 жыл бұрын
One ladder truck the Iron Mountain Fire Dept has but they JUST got it and haven't finished training.

Jason Asselin thanks for the reply.

Robert Williams The fire vented itself at 41:33. Putting fire fighters on the roof, would have just unnecessarily endangered the firefighter's lives. They could have fallen through or off the roof, which in either cases could have been fatal. BTW I do understand that roof ventilation is standard operating procedure for many American Fire Departments, but it shouldn't be. If the fire is really that hot, the roof wont last long anyway. So risking firefighters lives to vent it is pointless.

Word of healthy advice see those powerlines going to the house corner by the fire. The fire will burn through those lines and the lines will come in your direction.

@michaellangdon54632 жыл бұрын
Not one firefighter go into the sliding glass door that you can see, to put out any fire that would be inside. No roof ventilation on this house, That is definitely means no one inside the house when flames go through the roof.
@samstanfield26346 жыл бұрын
Half the comments saying the FD did a fantastic perfect job, the other half saying it was the worst firefighting they’d ever seen. I have no idea either way but how can people disagree so much
@jasonasselin6 жыл бұрын
I agree there. lol
@mxslick505 жыл бұрын
Because 99.99% of those saying it was a bad job are either NOT firefighters, or are bitter old trolls who have nothing better to do. (That troll part applies to some FF's also....the rare exception would be the ones who actually take the time to EXPLAIN what they see done wrong. ANY FF who just drops comments like "Terrible job, that's not how we'd do it in my department" is either a troll with no REAL answers, or a liar about being a FF. )
@jmiller1545 жыл бұрын
educated vs uneducated. There was only one fire engine there for the first 25 minutes with maybe 4 firefighters on it; that is nowhere near enough resources to properly action this incident. Standards would be a minimum 15 ff's there within 9 minutes, I would argue more as exposures are ignited on arrival. Under resourced rural firefighters have an incredibly tough job.
@stephenwallace53994 жыл бұрын
The one that say they did a bad job. Probably were firefighters at some point in their life
