Drag curls are fine however you've to use light weight if you were to follow exactly how Vince Gironda instructs it. Also, they target the long head, not the short. Problem is most people try going heavy with this movement and then they execute it with their elbows flaring outward. If one were to follow exactly as Vince's way, the elbows are to be positioned close to the body. However, the next best alternative is the seated incline curl, which in my opinion is best for the long head. In an old video, Franco Columbo said the incline curl was the best ever for the long head compared to drag curl because of the stretch that you don't get from the drag curl.

Completely agree with Tony. When I was 35....Being a drug-free bodybuilder...arms are extremely hard to get. Heavy Barbell Curls(much less Drag-Curls)didn't work well for me. Look at Vince Gironda....he had horrible arms and he loved the Drag-Curl. Once I started concentrating on Preacher Curls as my main bicep exercises , my arms shot from under 17 1/4(cold, no pump)to 18 5/8 in 3 months. I went from doing One Arm Dumbell Preacher Curl using a 45 pound Dumbell for 20 reps to a 70 point Dumbell for nearly 30 reps. Two hand Dumbell French Press jumped to using a 70 for 20 to a 100 pointer for nearly 30. 195, 9-10% bodyfat at 5'7....always and forever drug-free.

Yeah, I'm going to have to disagree with most of this. But respect your opinion.

This is a good point around drag curls. I’ve switched from bb curls to preachers and those one arm elbow above the shoulder curl machines. Combined with strict dumbell curls seated on the bench, my arms have grown far more than they ever did with straight db or bb curls.

CC72460 Agreed he is the voice of experience and no doubt has learnt alot from trial and error which is not bad thing but he has only a basic grasp of the science involved. The big take away is consistancy. If you have enough knowledge to avoid injury you can stay in pretty good shape even in the absence of of indepth knoledge

Hmmm I don't know about that. I like the drag Curl and I rotate my wrist on dumbell curls. I feel it better when I do vs not. To each his own.

Makes sense. But drag curl is the only way to keep the biceps growing, and load the tendon when a bicep tendinopathy is causing pain.
@shihengyifans23 күн бұрын
6 sets for biceps - 3 exercises, but even 2 are enough, also less would be better if you do forced reps, high intensity (8 or 10 sets - too much)

We are all surprisingly the same. Drugs make us different. Because even poor technique builds muscle when you take enough gear.
