Two notes: First, Norwegians (let alone other Scandinavians) at my university in the UK have perhaps the best command of the English language, irrespective of background or academic ability in general -- and my tutor adumbrated some even demonstrate better language skills than British citizens. Second, given the increasingly interconnected nature of business and education, there is no universally valid English accent but myriad versions.

I find it weird how Scandinavians always think they have to speak English in an English accent. Most Brits (and Americans) accept that foreigners will speak with a different accent. Hearing Norwegians, Swedes and Danes speak like Englishmen is very strange, but really cool and admirable at the same time. Most nationalities don't bother. Either way, we appreciate foreigners learning our language, regardless of accent!

Haha, I absolutely love Norwegian accents. Hard to decipher, but they sound really cool! The people in the video tried to pronounce English words like they were Norwegian words. I studied Norwegian over the summer, and THE WORDS ARE SO HARD TO PRONOUNCE. Sure, it looks like and shares a lot of similarities with English, but that's where it ends! English (at least American English) requires a much less controlled mouth than many languages. So, often people incorrectly try to speak it carefully.

It's good to just change that diff to see what the difference is is, and just sometimes... It's slipping up for me, so it's a litte bit scary, but it's easier to drive in many places. So, not a bad time. I'm quite happy with that actually, you know?

I am, it is indeed a privilege going to most places in the world and them speaking your tongue. The disadvantage is that learning other languages is less culturally pushed/desired. There's a laziness, lack of necessity/desire. I think many other nationalities students start learning foreign languages when they are younger too. I was talking to Swedes and they said they were 9 I believe. We don't start learning say, French or Spanish until we are 12.
