Great tutorial, you obviously know the program well! My only wish is you would either slow down on some of the more complicated items or be zoomed in on your screen slightly better so I can see which buttons/functions you are using. Otherwise, really wonderful. Once I get the hang of this program a bit better (coming from sketchup) I will use your code to get the subscription. Got tired of running up and down stairs from the shop to the computer, so hoping to make use of this when in the shop better! Lastly, and I definitely agree with you, I hope the guys @shapr3D add better dimensioning. It is such a powerful tool on sketchup to have that ability to quickly dimension anything and see it from all rotated angles.

I feel SketchUp have a steeper learning curve than Shapr...As a design engineer who’s used a lot of different programs, I’ve been recommending Shapr to anyone who’s just getting into CAD. I’ve been recommending this program before they sponsored me. Feel free to ask me any questions about the program and I can try to answer the best I can. Shapr also has a good series of beginner lessons on their KZbin channel.

Thank you for posting a tutorial related to a furniture build and Shapr3D. I hope to see more. This video tutorial was very good relative to the other Shapr3D tutorials available. However relative to other tutorials for programs like Sketchup this tutorial is ok. Like the other Shaper3D tutorials out there this video progresses far to fast for me to be easily useful. When you say ‘I use the translate tool...’ for example by the time I’ve figured out where/what the translate tool is you’ve already moved on. I am appreciative for your time and thankful this wasn’t 30 minutes of music and warp speed sketching. Maybe as a raw beginner to Shapr3D I’m not the target audience. I’m sure more experienced users got much more valuable info from the vid.

Actually you assume correctly. I use split screen with KZbin and Shapr3D side by side but still find it difficult Probably more my issue as obviously with over 400 likes I’m likely in the minority. I’m curious about how you would center up the leg assembly. It seemed that it wasn’t perfectly centered in the drawing from the start and the half lap and the position of the legs would be in different spots. I realize once building for real you can center everything up but just wondering how to set this in place. Seasoned SketchUp user and brand new shaper3d user.

trying to follow along from a beginners point of view, I found it very difficult to keep up with you. You are obviously very knowledgeable about Shapr, but sadly I'm not and have to keep pausing and going back trying to figure out what you were doing to try and replicate it myself. Would love to see you do one a wee bit slower with a bit more explanation of what your choosing to allow those of us just getting in to this type of software to follow along more easily.

Awesome. Neat CAD application. 12:28 The second leg axis isn't exactly symmetrical to the first one, though. (Not that it matters much for this demonstration. It's just that I feel that programs with emphasis on easy usability often allow for easy mistakes. // Or to put it differently: Ease of usability often comes with a lack of control. But I want to try it out, myself. Shapr3D looks great.)

Hello this was the best Shapr3D tutorial. I primarily want to use for designing furniture. Thanks I’ll probably hit you up with questions. How did you get so proficient with Shapr?

Thanks! I’d say the best way to get good at it is keep using it. I’ll practice with it any chance I get. When I’m watching tv, I’ll pick it up and draw a random table lol

Love it! Hopefully I can get as comfortable with the program as you are. Some things were done so fast I was confused. Also, @ 1:07 when we see your Home Screen are those shortcuts on the left? And if so, what are they used for and maybe you could do a video explaining? I am all about learning to be more efficient! Cheers.

Yeah they’re Apple shortcuts. My channel isn’t really an iPad/tech channel. You can search for “shortcuts on iPad” and there’s a lot of stuff on it.

Does it matter if you’re using the first pencil? Any difference? Great video thanks.

Thank you for a great tutorial! Cad on Ipad makes my woodwork designing so much better! Question, at 1330, you should be able to use the subtract tool on the second part, right?

Sorry for the super late reply. Yes, you can absolutely use the subtract tool to do this

Thanks for the tutorial! Is there a reason for working with the grid in millimeters vs inches? If the lumber I’m working with is in inches (3/4” and 1/2” plywood) should I also be designing with inches?

Great video! Really informative but I was wondering it was possible to change the angles of the box to be a parallelogram? I always seem to get stopped by constraints. Thanks!

If you want to change the angle of the miter ends, just select the edge surface, then select one of the edges. Then you’ll be able to rotate the surface about that edge

Good vid. Thanks. Seems like a good app. Short learning curve on a Windows 10 Surface Pro using Shapr3D's tutorial. BUT, all printing references on the web point to 3D printing. Spent waaay too much time trying to figure out how to get the image exported as a DWG to print on my ink jet with no success. Arrg! Anybody wanna venture a guess as to what I'm doing wrong?

I can’t set the drawer front size like how you’re doing at 17:47. It will let me click the line of the sketch (drawer front) but not the line of the side of the cabinet. When I exit sketching then try, I’m able to select both lines but it only gives me the option to move both of them and does not pop up that ‘distance’ box that you’re getting.
