To the third OP, let your problem player find his crew and ship and set sail for treasure... then continue the game with the rest of the party. When the problem player wants to role play their character just tell them that "they've gone off to find treasure" and switch back to the party. When they complain that you're ignoring their character tell them that "you left the party, you're going to have to roll up a new character, and if you want this character to stay active then they need to create a character that wants to work with the rest of the group".

Fun fact about the Over Powered story: The character they ported is famous for two things: Being a giant douchecanoe, and getting HUMILIATED every time he shows up. The dude is insanely OP, yes, but he's also dumb as rocks and about as arrogant as your average edgelord, and as a result, despite his insane power and wealth of abilities and overpowered objects, he finds himself losing humiliating fights against opponents way way weaker than he is. Using THAT guy as your DMPC that constantly saves the party all the time is as ridiculous as it gets, he should be getting his ass kicked by something that's seemingly unthreatening to show how dangerous it is after talking shit, not saving the party from impossible encounters.

Story #1 - Getting kicked is a good thing. Would have been much more satisfying to have been able to say your piece and then walk out, but such is life. Story #2 - Kicking was fully justifiable under those circumstances. He gave them every chance, tried to talk things out, and still nada. I'd say that the DM didn't really "have" a full Party in the first place - he had 3 actual Players before, and he still does. Story #3 - He's not doing anything for the other Players OR the campaign, he's actively hindering both. No reason to be nice about it, just boot him out completely, no backsies, and move on. Story #4 - Sounds like this DMPC was a lazy DM's idea of a Deus Ex Machina, something to bring in when he gets bored, or to fix things whenever he screws up (like too-powerful encounters). They've got a better DM now, and that's the main thing. Story #5 - A DM wanting to alter a Character backstory, for a better fit in his game, is reasonable - provided that Player is on board with it. No idea what was going on with this DM - this whole thing of keeping details secret, suddenly booting without warning, and refusal to discuss all sounds very odd. Story #6 - When a DM starts doing stuff outside of Player consent, like SA and/or pregnancy, you Do Not stay quiet and hang around hoping for improvement. You say something, and you get ready to walk, because that sort of cr#p NEVER gets better all by itself. Let's just say this particular DM had "social issues" - I'm willing to bet he was a kid, pretending to be older than he actually was.

I am a DM who always has a DMPC. However, this is how I do it; The games I run are particularly tough in combat, it's very life-or-death when the chips are down, and my players are well aware of, and are fans of the challenge. My DMPC is just a Paladin...or a fighter, or a Barbarian, who doesn't get involved unless they have to. The true purpose is not to be MY character, but...a back-up. If someone dies, they get to play the extra. If we have an extra guest without a character? They play the DMPC. It's just a backup character for my players, more than something for me. But I do take part in the roleplay side as this character if it's appropriate. If they're a paladin and they need to work around a church for something? Paladin's involved. When they reach a new city, they leave to go pray at the church, which means I don't influence them on what to do.

Yeah, in terms of a character arc, SA drives people who aren't mentally prepared for such experiences (aka majority of the world) into despair and anxiety. While I do advocate for SA being a narrative tool for reclaiming empowerment arcs, I do not ENFORCE it in every game because that topic is 1000% NOT FOR EVERYONE. And such topics need to be carefully and respectfully planned. Which this DM clearly didn't do. Freedom of Creativity should not be an excuse for forcing others into a fetish. If it has no point of existing, don't include it. And above all, be sure everyone else is ok with such plans in Session Zero. It's why it exists, get to know others limits and expectations and all.

For those unaware, Call of the Void is an uncommon but powerful instinct to self remove from the world when around certain places or objects. It's the absolute self destructive of intrusive thought. Many suicides, not all, aren't even made during depression, but due to an intrusive thought gone horrifically wrong. And these thoughts only gain traction if the mind experiences trauma as your internal dialogue becomes melancholic and nihilistic. There seems to be this pervasive issue where male DMs to want to force pregnancies on women players or PCs. I don't know if it's insensitivity or a gross power trip, or both. But it's so common in these stories, along with SA. I think if I were a DM, I would ask players ahead of time what outcomes are okay and what are not. If the subject ever came up, it would make sense to always have an out waiting so that the players have agency when something they're uncomfortable with for their characters occurs. Evil characters doing evil deeds is fine, but things can be around the characters and they can have a satisfying experience in thwarting that, or getting vengeance on the ones doing the bad.

#2 DM Realistically you can play with 3 people, if people don't show up but you have 3 players ready to play, just play. They can join whenever they want or not all you have to do is tell them "we are continuing whether you join or not and unless you tell me in advance I'm going to assume you're not coming." Which is basically a soft kick but either way if you don't show you don't play simple. #3 DM Ngl that character sounds so fun but the player is awful, I would actually really love a player to be ambitious take on their own quests and really try to impact my world I really love that, but he can do that and manage the story being unfolded in front of him, building a crew, finding treasure those things can be done along the way and I'd work with the player on how they can achieve what they want out of my game. So I'd go "Hey I really love this idea you have, but the other players and I don't appreciate the way you're playing" lay out all the issues you expressed then say "I want you to get what you want out of the game as well so how can we make that happen while staying in my campaign and allowing the other players to share the spotlight". If they still don't get it or argue you'll probably have to kick them unfortunately. I've had players who hog spotlight and the opposite and both require communication and even better if all the players can give their opinion and input as a party yall can solve it. If you want actual solution if your story has a lot of undead and he has the spells he should be able to animate corpses or control skeletons to man his ship, just put some treasure around for him to find maybe build in some mechanics for ship upkeep and then punish him for his mouth I mean if the prison guards don't like being spoken to that way maybe he gets thrown in prison.

To the fifth story, it sounds like the DM didn't expect you to follow the plot hook(s) in your backstory and was unprepared when you started to. He was unprepared for that sub-plot and not good at improving a story so he felt it was easier to kick you then to allow you to advance that plot line. This is why I recommend anyone thinking of joining a group to watch a session _before hand,_ even before rolling up a character. if you do that you'll get a feel for how the group handles role-playing, combat, plot hooks, etc. and you'll get a good idea of whether is is a good fit for you or not. I also recommend DMs have prospective players observe a session before letting them join so you can observe them, do that pay attention or sit on their phone the whole time. Are they able to quietly observe or do they have to constantly interrupt the game with questions and comments (or inappropriate jokes)? As the DM, if the prospective player is paying attention and not showing any negative qualities, you can hand them an NPC or two to play so that they can interact with the rest of the group to see how well they handle themselves and how well the group dynamic works.

Intro: Nipsy! Furry DMPC: I already hate this based on the title. It apparently wasn't fun, so I have no idea why OP held on long enough to be kicked. Absent: It sounds like OP needs a contingency plan for absent players so present players aren't at their mercy. Ultimately, the dismissal was justified. Recruiting: Setting expectations early so everyone is on the same page is important. If someone simply refuses to be on the same page as everyone else, it's time to kick them. Doge says it even better. Over Powered: Sounds like a textbook example of the worst kind of DMPC, stealing both the spotlight AND player agency. And why THAT character?! Kicked: Sounds like the problem was the DM wanted to play OP's character. Or maybe just really was incredibly scatterbrained? Idk. Pregnant: Wow. The DM really needs to improve communication and get such particulars cleared with the players. Since that doesn't seem likely, OP should bail.
@akun504 ай бұрын
The "Over Powered" story - Yeah, having magic items randomly explode is beyond stupid, and the damage is WAY off. Unless that creature's tongue was somehow activating a Necklace of Fireballs or a Staff of the Magi, there's no reason they should've exploded, let alone with that intensity. The fact that they had no idea how to fight the monster is just beyond stupid. "Pregnant" story - So many red flags, you'd have have to be literally red-green colorblind in order to not notice. Bail while you can. Any DM that ignores your "don't" list and then wants you to potentially start out pregnant when you don't want to be is beyond gross and shouldn't be dealt with.

I'm willing to bet that none of the other players are willing to rock the boat either because they should be getting after the problem player for trying to derail the game. In the 4th story, the players should have said that they would leave the game if the Self Insert showed up to 'fix everything'. Best Gilgamesh would do as a form of Respect to someone is let them mourn the loss of someone they just killed because he knows the pain too.

I won't lie I avoid anything furry like the plague anymore. People always say "not all furries" but let's be real. It's a lot of them lol

once a month, for a single hour... At that point, why bother even showing up? It takes literally 5-10 mins to really get into a game in general after resuming from the last session, So that alone leaves 50 minutes. Then you have recaps of what happened last session or sessions. Which lets tack on another 5 minutes to be generous(not that much can happen in a single solitary hour, specially with multiple people) Then, like anyone who has limited time to play anything can attest to you, you do not get enjoyment from a thing if you are clock watching to try and squish as much fun into a single session as you physically can. So the session itself would just.... not be fun for anyone at all. So really by doing 1 hour once a month, there is no point to the game at all. You get at most 40 minutes of a game, which you have to split between rp, exploration, and combat (obviously ratios differ) Which means you do not even get to enjoy any of it at all

First one sounds like a "that guy" story from that guy. Seemed to want to use high numbers in social skills to mind control npcs. You can convincingly day you think the sky looks green and have people beleive that you beleive the sky is green without them believing the sky is green. This is not a contradiction.

Kind of a clickbait title and thumbnail. Seeing as how Yuumi is literally just a normal housecat that can speak words and sits on a flying magic tome, I wouldn't call that furry. By that the movies Oliver & Company, The Aristocats, The Fox and the Hound, or Lady and the Tramp would be considered a furry movie.

I don't think you understand what click bait ism
@ArcCaravan4 ай бұрын
Based on the description, the titular DMPC could be a more furry version of the League of Legends character. I think there was a furry scale that counted those movies as a type 4 furry.
