The Soviets have adopted every Geneva convention, except for one in 2005 (which for obvious reasons was signed by Russia instead). They didn't do so until 1960, though, so Rimmy's still of the hook. For comparison, the US signed the conventions earlier, but didn't actual adopt them until 1955.

45:19 the top ring of numbers is for HE shells (they have lower muzzle velocity, and drop quicker) the inner ring is for AP the triangles are a specific height and distance apart in mills..... so if you know the maths, you can range estimate with them also useful for giving you a "dot" to aim a moving target with VS just aiming with nothing..... and having to remember how far you lead the target for the 2nd shot
