my grandfather was a russian pilot during ww2, he got to meet the female pilots. and he was so impressed of there dedication and abilities that after the war he got a tattoo in russian that translated says " fallen daughters of the motherland, i salute you" in honour of the female pilots who died. say what you will about russia, but the men and women would lay there lives down for there country without a thought. whenever you ask him about the war, he slaps his tattoo and says "they were sisters, daughters, and mothers, but most importantly, they were heroes"

I remember an interview with one of the surviving Night Witches. She said that if you dug your finger in the plane, the cloth would rip. It was that flimsy. She was proud of the title Night Witch. She also spoke fondly of a girl who survived seven flights out. Queens. Every single one of them.

One of my many Sabaton favorites. I was so glad to see them put this out for all their fans. These women.....WOW!....just unbelievable bravery. It really irks me -- as a woman myself -- that they weren't allowed to take part in the Russian victory celebration. Men could be "rather difficult" back in those days. Thanks for this, guys! True heroes these woman still are!! It is a shame that weren't allowed in that victory celebration! Sadly there are still some countries where woman are still beneath men! But we will always remember the night witches! Strong and independent woman who fought and died for their country 😊🤘

Don't miss fact that they still was allowed fight in war, while usa cowardly sit on other continent. If you wanna another example - Liudmila Pavlichenko, top sniper, she killed a lot of nazis, and she was in usa once, here some of her speech - “I am 25 years old and I have killed 309 fascist occupants by now,” she reportedly told one group in Chicago. “Don’t you think, gentlemen, that you have been hiding behind my back for too long?”. There is movie about her - Siege of Sevastopol, pretty good, watch it. Far as i know, americans know nothing about another countries history and that's sad. By the way, women have equal rights with men from 1917 in USSR ;)

I don't think that calling my homeland "cowardly" for not getting into WWII sooner than it did is a good way to break the ice with somebody like me. What I learned about Russia came while it was still the USSR. Not a whole lot of information was forthcoming from the communist regime at that time. I'm sorry if that offends you, but it's the truth of how a closed system like the USSR worked. I'm assuming you know the history of every country on the planet?

@@cinderellsworth well in general almost every country with huge influence around world, now and then. Thats how USSR education are works - you know something or not. Now it more like western - tests, choose 1 of 4 and like this. And it's sucks, pardon for my French. Sorry if "cowardly" offends you, but for us it is always been like this, your regime choose to stay away, and wait until both powers weakened by war, it is politicians fault, not common citizens, i understand that. And try to learn something, it is very exciting :)

If you want something different, check out Bloodywood. It's an Indian street metal band, with a bit of rap thrown in. Think Linkin Park or Rage Against The Machine, but with more curry. 🤘 These guys are very talented, funny as hell (they've done some metal parodies of popular songs) and many of their songs have really important social messages.
