First of all, I love that photo above Casy's bed! It's a classic! And also...people need to understand that Casey's entire family is part of the problem-not just Casey, not just her dad, not just anybody-all of them as a whole. Since they're all part of the problem, they all need to be part of the solution. That's why the family therapy session near the end was really why made a HUGE difference, and was the great beginning in Casey's recovery.

The father really isn't as bad as he seems. He just doesn't know how to react anymore. He's only frustrated and scared that his little girl is hurting herself, and there's nothing he can do. It's just a parent's desperate reaction to something he can't control, and doesn't understand.

At first, i didn't really like the father, sorta reminded me of mine, and then seeing this, i think he truly cares about his daughter. Like many have said, he just doesn't know how to handle it nor have the tools to cope with this kind of thing. But now seeing this part, i do feel sorry for her father, and see him in a different light. :)

Aww, Casey's father was kind of sweet to offer to pick her up from school after feeling bad for the way he treated her the night before. Sad, how he yells at her again later on that day. He was just stressed because Casey has always been the good girl (while her sister acts like a spoiled brat).

It is possible to lose your period after a month and a half of restricting. It depends on your weight and health before getting to this point. I lost mine in less than two months because I barely ate and was extremely active. My fat percent dropped to below 10 % so sadly it is very possible..

@14christinaa I see where your coming from - but its sooo had to understand for some people. He's just very frustrated. Plus I'm guessing this is quite an old film - eating disorders weren't as well known years ago - he probably thinks what he's doing is best when in fact he's making it worse - its , unfortunetly a common mistake to make.

The Dad is just frustrated and thats how parents react. He is scared that she will die. Like when a little child gets lost at the store and the Mum gets angry when she finds the child. Its a natural response. Thats why they have made him act like that. its realistic behaviour of a parent who doesnt understand the situation.

@CrimsonVibrato 3) Do men use more violent ways to control women than the other way around? Definitely yes. This is simply as men are allowed to use violence a lot more, and even encouraged to translate a lot of their emotions as rage (frustration, concern, sadness). Do women start more fights than men? I'd love to read a scientific study that proved this either way.

@CrimsonVibrato on the contrary, feminists completely acknowledge the statistics on battered men. These prove that women can be as violent as men, a central tenet of feminism. I think the problem here is that you don't know what feminism actually *is*. Feminism simply means that women and men are equal (in rights and duties, and in their capacity for good and evil).

@CrimsonVibrato I didn't say he was the sole cause, but he is certainly the main cause of the problem. I didn't say that women could not be controlling, but women tend to be less violent about their control (not always, but there is a tendency; hence the numbers of battered wives against battered husbands). And...are you trying to use the word "feminist" as an insult?
