A very cool detail that is never shown in the show, but it`s true about Allister Thorne (the dick First Ranger from the night`s watch): The reason that he is the Watch is that he sided with the Targaryens during the civil war. He was a strong loyalist. He probably lowkey hates the starks because they were the main force behind Robert's Rebellion, along with the Baratheons and the Arryns. And that's probably why he bears a special hatred for Jon

A good little detail: when Robert tells Ned “until Joffrey comes of age” Ned instead writes “until the heir comes of age.” Leaving him a little wiggle room to deny Joffrey the throne if it comes out that he’s not technically Robert’s rightful heir.

Jorah the Andal isn't really a name or title. Andal is an ethnicity, it's like saying Jorah the European. Keep in mind where Danearys is at is not predominantly Andal.
@GustavoCardoso952 сағат бұрын
And that being said, Jorah is not even andal, he has from first men descent because he is from the north. The Dotrahki just call him that because he's from Westeros lol It's like a westerner calling any type of asian chinese out of ignorance. And in regards to your comment about Daenerys, being a Targaryen makes her a mixture of both First Men and Andals, since her ancestors intermarried with most of the higher houses from westeros. Genetics doesn't really make a lot of sense in GOT, otherwise the Targaryen genes would have been snuffed out by now even with the interbreeding. It sounds like these higher houses have some sort of genetic strength going on, that's why Robert's sons and daughters always have black hair. (interestingly enough, Robert has a lot of Targaryen blood because he's grandmother was a Targaryen if I'm not mistaken. Rhaenys Targaryen is good example of that (from F&B). She was Targaryen, but had black hair from her Baratheon mother. AND there's this whole theory that all Targaryens descend not from Aegon, but from his sister's son with a Baratheon. i wish they kept the purple eyes for the Targaryens like in the books!
@deltoidableСағат бұрын
What's extra confusing is he's not even an Andal, people from the North are First Men. To the Dothraki everyone across the sea is an Andal.

One of the best scenes was one I think you did not react to. When traveling south Ned saw knights practicing for a tourney. He exclaims that those are not knights, they're just playing at it. The brilliance of that passage was that the same was true for Ned himself as well. He was going to court for a position that requires intrigue. But he could not do intrigue, he was just playing at it, just like the knights were playing at fighting. Following stupid rules that get you killed in the real world.

Ser Allister supported the Targaryens in Roberts Rebellion, thats why he's at the wall in the first place. His side lost and he took the black. He hates Jon because hes Neds son, and he hates Ned because of Neds role in the Rebellion and the downfall of the Targaryens. Basically, Allister is at the wall because of Ned, in an oversimplified way.

Robert also fucked it up. He should've had witnesses when appointing Ned regent. He shouldve had Renly, Barristan Selmy and forced Cersei to stay in the room to bear witness
@MrJethroha27 минут бұрын
In the book, Ned's errors are even more egregious. Renly didn't express any interest in the throne, he just wanted to get Joffrey away from Cersei before Robert died to weaken the Lannisters. Ned was too in his feelings about Robert to do the sensible thing and act immediately. Also most of Ned's guard weren't killed in the street, they were sent off chasing the Mountain. If Ned had kept his own men close and accepted Renly's assistance, then Cersei wouldn't have had a leg to stand on and Littlefinger would never join the losing side. Ned would take over as regent, and could proclaim Stannis or Renly King when he saw fit. There would still be a war most likely, but the Lannisters would be isolated, not in control of the capital, with Cersei and her children as hostages.
@Urielthalas8 минут бұрын
The people of Essos call Jorah "the Andal", but that's actually wrong. There are three ethnic groups in Westeros, which you hear when they say the full title of the "King of the First Men, the Andals, and the Rhoynar." The First Men are the darker haired northerners like Jorah and the Starks. The Andals are the often blonde but sometimes dark haired southerners such as the Lannisters, the Tyrells, Samwell Tarly, etc. Lastly, the Rhoynar are more commonly known as the Dornish and they're more or less Hispanic looking. But, like how you've probably never heard of the Miao people and would just call them Chinese, the easterners of Essos just call Jorah an Andal.
