I feel like Renly is great at getting the support of the people. He is very charismatic and fun, although the show toned that down a bit, there he was more of a figurehead, almost a puppet of Margeary and Loras. Which is a shame, because I liked Renly in the books much more then in the show. Also Im still mad at how Loras and Renlys relationship was portrayed, i feel like in the books its much more subtle, but it feels like they were deeply in love, whereas in the show it seems much more physical. Robert was a cool dude in the beginning, and definitely a great warrior but just not meant to rule. He was a bad king and much too leniant I think. Stannis (the Mannis) is pretty cool in the books. I like his sense of justice, kind of like Ned Stark but less naive. He is pretty harsh but I think he might make a pretty good king. Better than Renly or Robert, and far better than Cercei or Joffrey But idk Im a Stannis stan so...

It seems realistic and simple that Aemon could have considered the wall the place to be if he had knowledge of the dream of Azor Ahai, rather than risk being king and dieing sooner, considering his obsession with prophecies

Looking at the Westeros map when I flip it round it kinda looks like England/Ireland/Scotland with Europe to the east. My imagination sees an elderly woman or Maggie the Frog with her neck right where The Neck is described in the books. With all the beheadings in the books I'm wondering if the war between the north and south ends up chopping off her head to finally separate the frozen north from the south to give each side their respective places to live.

I think it's unfair to assume Jon isn't attractive. If he looks like Lyanna who presumably had a long face then no reason why he can't also be nice looking. Arya who also has a long face is described as pretty as well

Did Tyrion visit Castle Black's library? I don't think so, but why not? Seems like a shame. Did the watch not tell him about its existence? Had George Martin not thought of its existence at that point?

"Jeor strokes the raven without his eyes leaving Jon Snow." So it was said in Uni that pronouns stick to the previous noun. So in this case, it would be the raven looking at Jon. But I think that's stupid. In our modern vernacular, pronouns typically stick to the subject of the sentence. So it would be Jeor looking at Jon. And I think that would be more interesting too cus it infers that Jeor knows something or is thinking something that we, the audience, aren't aware of. I doubt that Jeor is aware of R + L = J, but maybe he's thinking of Jon being heir to the North, after Rob. Maybe he's thinking that Jon's a mirror of Aemon--a man of royal blood sworn instead to the Night's Watch.

Hey ASX: I'm loving these and desperately waiting for more-especially waiting for Books 4 & 5 and the sample chapters, but one rather big bone to pick--in GoT: Bran VI and elsewhere, you seem to take it as established fact that Bran, through proactive time travel, messed with Hodor's brain. This is of course not proven at all in the books, but I think this is also not true in the show - just incompetent and clumsy writing creating a false impression. Hodor, like Jojen, had green dreams and saw "the day that he dies". That was why he went nuts and was rendered only able to say Hodor. Jojen dutifully played out his destiny, assisting Bran and accepting his known future demise. Hodor couldn't handle it and went wacko. Period. There is some magic or unexplained science in this fantasy that allows people to see the future and past and to communicate telepathically in the present. But nobody can go back in time and change an event which in turn alters the present/future. You're presenting it as if it's settled law that Bran can and in fact has done this. You caveat R+L=J, but you present this without qualification. Bran hasn't done this in the books and I don't think he did in the show - and him doing so would utterly ruin the whole saga.

Jon is never described as ugly though. Lyanna presumably had a long face and she's described as beautiful. There's a good chance Jon is actually low key hamdsome
