@@MirandaAndUh Here I found it: "No more than he knows me." (Theon) "Knows me," cried one of the ravens the maester had left behind. It flapped its big black wings against the bars of its cage. "Knows," it cried again.' "Yet," both ravens screamed in unison. Then one quorked, and the other muttered, "Tree, tree, tree." ' The memory left Theon writhing in his chains. "Let me down," he pleaded. "Just for a little while, then you can hang me up again." Stannis Baratheon looked up at him, but did not answer. "Tree," a raven cried. "Tree, tree, tree." ' 'Then other bird said, "Theon," clear as day, as Asha came striding through the door.' 'And suddenly there came a wild thumping, as the maester's ravens hopped and flapped inside their cages, their black feathers flying as they beat against the bars with loud and raucous caws. "The tree," one squawked, "the tree, the tree," whilst the second screamed only, "Theon, Theon, Theon." ' Two things I get out of this: Bran knows that Theon is alive and captive, and he really, really wants Theon to go to the tree. But, why? This is right at a point where Theon is chained up and ready to give up his will to live any longer. The ravens tell him "tree" and he knows he has a purpose still. I think there is another section where a tree comes to him in a dream, or speaks to him. Oh well, not tonight.

It reminded me of the death of wen, the harmonica player in the episode 6 of Cowboy Bebop, "Sympathy for the devil". Wen was a boy that was a victim of an explosion of an Astral Gate near planet Earth that caused his body to stop aging and made him virtually immortal. So as to keep his condition a secret, he would kidnap older men, make them paralyzed, and pretend that they were his father or guardian. He was shot with a gem bullet by Spike Spiegel (the main character) that made him die as it provoked his accelerated aging like Melisandre here when she took her necklace off. I had a feeling Theon would die. He's the Neville Longbottom of GOT. He obviously had a much different journey, but seeing him grow from a weak, scaredy cat who abandoned his own sister to standing up to the army of the dead AND the Night King was such an amazing character arc of redemption, strength, bravery. I hate that we had to lose him, but he had a great death.
@simmer4845 жыл бұрын
Harsh to call him weak. He had PTSD from being tortured. He was the only character who showed the mental health aspect of all the horrible things.
@duffman1810 ай бұрын
The only thing was why on earth did they make him carry a spear as his weapon? They made a huge deal in the first few seasons of the fact that the ironborn were the best archers in the world and Theon was no exception. Yet they game him a spear, instead of a bow and arrow? Theon had already saved Bran once before in the first season from the wildlings, by using a bow and arrow, so it would have been really poetic for him to try and save Bran with a bow and arrow again, but this time it didn't work because the night king was so much stronger than any wildling. But D&D just completely forgot about the fact Theon was meant to be an amazing archer. And just gave him a weapon that he'd never once used before, and also that make no sense because spears are next to useless on ships, which is where the ironborn do all their fighting, because they're too long for the cramped spaces of ships, which is why they use either swords or bows and arrows as weapons. So it made even less sense for Theon to use a spear.
