Fantastic! I haven't used substance for texturing myself but I like the style of the baked lighting a lot! I might mess with it in the future on a project. I can't wait to see how this all goes amazing work as usual!

nice to see the asset creation side for a stylized game like this

Here are some ideas i got for a horror game. Ps1 alpha blending features. That dark teal colour that psx Doom used for nightmare spectres. Use that for enemies! Again Psx doom. That animated flame filled sky ... was so trippy. Throw old records at enemies like shaun of the dead. Use of a magic spray can that sprays a coloured mist that freezes enemies. Enemies explode in a pile of polygon confetti when you kill 'em like in Gex 3d. Spinning 3D models like in Kula world or Quake. Score system which acts as health, life and currency all in one. Makes finding and scoring points matter.

Love the fact you used real life model references like that

Found the first part when I was trying to learn how to fib affine texture warping in UE, but I think I’m gonna be around for this adventure. Really cool to watch

Please Devlog Part 3! I have been waiting too long 😂

Dev log 3 covers how I made the main character and will be out soon!

Keep it up with this!! :D By the way, you can set the texture resolution within Unreal by setting the "Max Resolution" property on the texture asset. :)

Try using bump offset, too. It will help with the distance that surfaces are from the game camera, wiggle it, randomise the values etc, should help and of course can be based on distance. Enjoy.

my comment got deleted, but it linked you to something to look at - probably because you got 'do not show links or urls in comments' inside of your youtube settings for your channel.@@GameDevAcademy

Looking forward to this. Just looking at this pic gives me ideas ... Like an abandoned fair ground or playground setting. A game like Limbo but in that early ps1 low polygon look. You know like Gex 3D or Spyro the dragon. But Horror.

How would you achieve a PS2 or Dreamcast look in Unreal?

still going?

Yes. I am currently working on the main character. He's mostly done - I'm just not happy with the texture for his face. The next DevLog video will cover how I created the character once he's completed.
