Indie games have been absolutely killing it on PC in 2022! So many talented small studios putting out some seriously impressive stuff. It's great to see the creativity and innovation they bring to the table. Can't wait to see what other gems the future holds for us indie game fans!

A lot of triple A games have been same-old, and with dev teams moving to smaller shops, or opening their own to get out of crunch culture and other shitty work conditions, the Indy game scene has started to become utterly incredible. Don't get me wrong, I love glorious graphics, but Gimmie a /fun/ and engaging game and I'm in. Love to see it!

You need multiple platforms to show top notch games in order to validate a golden year imo like 1996 and 1998 nintendo, ps1 and pc all got legendary or cult games these years I can't find top games from these years on top of mind, maybe 2018 but I don't know the games release date by heart ;)

7:27 - Honey I shrunk the kids. Not sure if many remember that film. I loved watching it as a kid and I rewatched a year or so ago. Great film! A Classic!

Solid list! PC gaming was saved by indie this year. It was very much needed with the obscene prices hardware got to, a trend that is getting even worse in 2023. Long live the indie scene, with its innovation, its freshness, and its low specs requirements! Because it is a niche game and I read the reviews on steam, most people drop the game halfway because it gets very difficult and that's a game design issue not the players given how many have this issue, even people who used to play tony hawk back then. See Tony Hawk 2 was relatively hard but you had motivation to keep going until you became good, Thunderdome is good but the peak in difficulty out of nowhere kills it. It is a great title for its creativity no doubt and that should be praised but there are better experiences out there I think it's that simple.

Darktide might be a top ten game this time next year but as of now, every one of your honorable mentions deserved it's spot more. Even you had a caveat about the way the game plays.

I agree. Darktide is a lot of fun...when it's working. The game feels so incredibly unfinished and broken. I think my friends and I have had the game crash almost consistently, like hard crash. How they sold this game at full price in it's state is insane.

I would highly recommend Project Zomboid for a list like this if not for the fact that it's still technically in development. It's a brutally challenging isometric zombie survival game with a big focus on realism. It's extremely punishing (to the point where it isn't for everyone). However, for the hardcore zombie survival fans out there, I can easily recommend it as the best option on the market. It's been in development by a small indie team for several years now, but the current build of the game (41) was a massive leap forward. It added a ton of content and mechanics (including multiplayer), and build 42 probably isn't far off. The game has picked up a lot of steam recently, and looks to only keep getting bigger and better. Again, I know it doesn't technically belong on this list since it's still in active development, but I would definitely recommend not sleeping on that one.

Yea its a fun game but imo it gets boring pretty quickly when u dont have any friends to play with... if ur alone expect playing all by yourself all the time and maybe, just maybe if ur lucky enough find friendly people to team up with in game. For people who love survival games and colony managing games id definitely recommend rimworld, mainly made by 1 dude and theres a massive mod community ( over 18k mods and new ones are getting released all the time ) to add up even more diversity to the many different gameplays u can have. It should have been in this list instead of dwarf fortress tbh, but dwarf fortress is still good aswell

Crisis Core was one of the first video games I forced myself to finish as a kid, and I will never regret it. Such an amazing game and story with a very fun and unique combat system. And such amazing character writing all round.

Barony is by far one of the funnest and most infuriating games I have ever played with friends, it comes off as old RuneScape mixed with Minecraft in a rogue like dungeon crawler where the goal is to delve deeper and deeper into a dungeon filled with monsters and traps I promise you that if you get this game and you play with friends it will be the most frustrating but rewarding experience and the only advice I will give you is turn on friendly fire and watch for boulders

Men the game A PLAGUE TALE INNOCENCE specialy the A PLAGUE TALE REQUIEM, for me one of the saddest ending game that i played and also that mother's scene of that game, i will not spoil you so guys you should play that game. To this day i am not still move on on that ending of REQUIEM but for me one of the best game that I played 💯.

I'd love to check out Dwarf Fortress, but I'm already a bit slow with Rimworld and am a bit afraid if I start I'll end up in a black hole of my lifetime. Haha. One day I may try it anyway.
