I hate that I am at best 6 years late to the Game Sack party... I didn't really get into ScrewTube until a few years ago, in my late 30's... But I love that as a direct result of having been so late to the party here, there is a fairly huge backlog of fucking awesome videos for me to watch! Thanks, dudes!

I've gotta say that you guys impress me. I was randomly searching KZbin for older game reviews and stumbled upon you guys. I have to say, I've watched nearly all of your videos and I want to say thank you. As a soldier, I get a lot of "Thank yous" but I want to say thank you to you guys for cheering me up every time I watch one of you videos. It's the small things in life that matter, and you guys seem to have right mix of awesomeness. Thank you GameSack, SSG Hicks, 48 IBCT

I find some of your videos are a bit abrasive but damn are you right! Although I could add in some of my own to the mix: - Mega Man Legends 2 - Tekken 3 - Pokemon Generation 2 (Gold, Silver, Crystal) - Marvel vs Capcom 2 - Super Smash Bros. Melee - Gran Turismo 2 (I think i'm Paranoid) - Crash Bandicoot 3: Warped - Grand Theft Auto III (reinvisioning from GTA 2) - Grand Theft Auto: Vice City (refinement from GTA3) - Zone of the Enders 2 (LOCK-ON!) - Streets of Rage II (Go Straight) - Sonic 2 (You could tell Joe wanted to at least mention it at the end!) - Halo 2 (MP refinement, no more zoom pistol hegemony) :p

@singularon1 I'm not saying it isn't better, I think if we judged it objectively it certainly is, but there's a certain appeal to rougher, mysteriously pure games like the first Nier that I just prefer. Its how Demons Souls can still be my favourite Souls game in spite of how far the series has progressed and undoubtedly improved. I kinda like that its not more accessible. Makes it feel more...special, I guess.

I'd like to see cross-platform comparisons. Even if there's a big difference graphics. SMS vs NES- like Double Dragon, Batman (1989), Bubble Bobble, Commando (I think) vs Rambo, Zelda Vs Golvellious, and side-by-sides of Tengan bootlegs: Shinobi SMS Vs NES, Afterburner SMS Vs. NES, California Games... The rest I forgot.

Best. Episode. Ever. No kidding. Not only did I really enjoy your picks for games & sequels here, but the humor in the Jurassic Park segment had me in stitches. There was some other well-placed humor, too, which mixed really well with the knowledge and opinions being shared. It made for a really, really entertaining watch. I'm one of those weird pinball fans, and am thrilled that you mentioned the Crush games. My brother and I used to alternate on Alien Crush on the TG-16 back in 1990 and I loved it. The screen alternation-- as opposed to scrolling to follow the action-- was (and is) a bit off-putting as losing track of the ball can really affect your ability to follow what's going on. Sadly, I never got to play Devil's Crush on the original hardware. My experience was via Dragon's Fury on the Genesis and it was (and is) a blast to play, despite a hit in the sound department. Thanks again for continuing to deliver these vids. Happy Thanksgiving!

@dennett316
@dennett316 11 жыл бұрын
jgfjgfify Yup. More interesting and more varied gameplay...also better graphics, but that's a given and doesn't matter hugely. The first game is an obvious classic, but SMB2 beats it in every category other than not being the original. I don't care that it wasn't a "real" Mario game, it was still developed by Nintendo, and still has some of that magic.
@dennett316
@dennett316 11 жыл бұрын
jgfjgfify I'm clouded by nostalgia, because I prefer the more recent game of the two? Huh? Also, your only rationale is it's not a "true" Mario game, which I've already said doesn't concern me, and in fact, the game it was based on was actually created by members of the original Mario team, and developed in-house at Nintendo. Sounds like you're incapable of accepting that not everyone likes the same stuff that you like. Gameplay has more variety will still retaining a lot of the original feel. There's more variety in characters available, who all have slightly different abilities and give the game more replay value, and even some strategy in utilising the best character for a particular level. More enemy variety, more secrets to find, vertical AND horizontal platforming and more skill required throughout. I've laid MY reasons out clearly, while you just spout vague dismissals and say nothing to actually back yourself up.

Kratose, man I hate that whiny shit stain! Well, I don't know about other people but I don't like QTE because it annihilates your immersion in the game. When I'm playing a game, the square button doesn't exist. When I want to jump I don't think "oh, I have to press the square button now" I think "jump!". Then this prompt comes up and I'm like "shit, where's squair again?! Oh, right.... it's Jump!" But then I've missed the prompt, and you dead, or you keep fighting. Oh, and if it's differant each time, it's even worse. Then there is the fact that it is playing the same cut scene, over and over again, that you can't even watch. Because you have to constraint on watching for the button presses. It has NOTHING to do with it only a few button presses. Personally, I liked Pilot Wings 1 a lot better than PW64. That might be because of Nostalgia though.

I wish I could make my own review of the Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner series, it's just the Devil Summoner games, 1 and 2, because that's all I've played of the Shin Megami Tensei series, but I digress, I cannot do so because I've no way to make a video. I do not have a camera or mic, unfortunately, so while I would love to go into detail on Devil Summoner 1 and 2, despite the removal of character limits on comments, well, I kinda doubt you'd read all of it. Everything about it just makes for a REALLY long comment. But what I can say is that DS 1 is already pretty dang fun, and I like it, but DS 2 improves a LOT. Gives you a few improvements that while playing 1, I was hoping they would make, but they changed even almost the ENTIRE control scheme AND how the battles go! The music, I don't know about, I didn't really pay attention much, since I'd only gotten the games not too long ago. The graphics are not too bad in the first one, and I don't think they change too terribly much between the two.

Improved sequels; Genso Suikoden II, which overall improved the graphics, the gameplay, and the music. Seiken Densetsu III, A game which was never officially released in the west, but is a sequel to Secret of Mana, and had three different final bosses, depending on who you picked as your main character, fantastic art direction, and wonderful music. Super Mario Bros. 3 seems an obvious choice due to the fact that they greatly expanded on the variety of gameplay graphics, and music. Street Fighter 2 is another sequel that left its predecessor in the dust, to the point that it was one of the most popular fighting games of its time, and can still be found in arcades that appeal to nostalgia, and the original Street Fighter is a game barely anyone has played. Streets of Rage 2 was also a sequel that improved a lot on the groundwork laid down by the first game. 3 improved a lot as well, but the difficulty was spiked when it was localized for US release, and made it very unpopular Star Ocean II was a fantastic followup to a SNES game that never got localized in its original form(but eventually game over to the US in the PSP, as Star Ocean: First Departure)

Let me add: - Thunder Force II (now that's a gap!). - Street Fighter II (same). - Otogi 2 (not as much but still a superior sequel to an already amazing game). & though I don't agree about Super Mario land 2 since I like them both equally & even find the 1st one to be a better platformer, it's clear that Devil Crash improved a lot over Alien Crush mainly thanx to the added scrolling which makes things so much more enjoyable! I especially love the improved Mega Drive version, Devil Crash MD (renamed Dragon's Fury in US), with its higher resolution (meaning non-stretched graphics), superbly redesigned bonus stages & many hidden music!

Kingdom Hearts II trumphed the original game in every way possible and multiplied the result by x100. Also, DragonBall Z: The Legacy of Goku II (if you're a DBZ fan), vastly improved upon the first Legacy of Goku, which seems kinda primitive and lacking today.

i agree with the kind words for Super Mario Land, it is different then the other mario games, but its got a great charm, and there's a few really great songs. controls were probably the biggest thing, they have a different feel to them, but i find the controls extremely workable after getting used to them. this is a game i could practice just a little bit and be able to do no death runs. i personally didn't like 6 golden coins, or most of the other gb/gbc mario games. the large sprites and small playfields make it very claustrophobic and it makes me feel like blah.

The sequel to Mortal Kombat on the SNES, Mortal Kombat II was superior because Nintendo allowed blood on it.

Not a game but... WWII? Better Villains, less trench bits, less convoluted plot, better special effects, Leni Riefenstahl directed some of it. Great cameos. Left the groundwork for the relatively disappointing but still interesting, Cold War. Great licensed material- MoH, H&D, B&Q. Great TV series-Dad's Army, Heil Honey, I'm Home, 'Allo, 'Allo...

Super Castlevania IV takes the cake, for me. Some other great sequels have to be Lufia 2 for the SNES, Lunar: Eternal Blue for the Sega CD, and Sonic 2006. Wait, I meant Sonic Unleashed. No! Abandon ship!!! XD

I know I'm in the minority here, but I thought Simon's Quest was an excellent sequel to Castlevania. I enjoyed Super Mario Bros. 2 better than the original as well.

If looking some modern stuff, i could say Metal Gear Solid series on the playstation... The 2nd and 3rd were awesome sequels with new graphics and awesome story writing. The 4th one is not bad either but the story is falling a little pit flat and weird on the latest ones.

You got in touch with a game dev? Interesting. Anyway, there are plenty of games that are better than the original; at least in comparison to the ratio in order media. Take for example Harvest Moon to Harvest Moon 64: Great game to best game in the series.

Is it just me or do the SNES's graphics look soo much better and cleaner than the 64's? I know the polygonal abilities of the 64 are cool and allow it to do some unique things, but I sure do love the sleek clean look of the SNES games. And I'm a 64 fanboy (it's by far my favorite system) so I'm not biased lol

This topic screams Street Fighter II all over. Donkey Kong Country 2 was the best from that series as well even though Donkey Kong is now retired and now known as Cranky Kong if I remembered correctly and the fake and real sequals to Renegade which were Target Renegade for the Spectrum (Fake sequal by Ocean not Technos and different to NES version which was another fake game I think but this one was better than that NES version and also better than the original Renegade considering it's a fake Ocean edition) and Kunio Tachi No Banka for the SNES (Real sequal to Renegade by the real developer of the game and also better than original Renegade) Lemmings 2 - The Tribes contriversial but I think it's better than the first.

That being said: If we're including gameboy games, I better see Pokemon 2nd gen named as revolutionary set of sequals to the 1st generation games...

Oddworld Abe's Oddysee was a great game, one of my favorite of all time. but Oddworld Abe's Exoddus was the superior game by far. with added gameplay mechanics and an improved save system the sequel took everything we loved from the first and made it a hundred times better... however the same cannot be said for every installment released since. and with a new game on the horizon i can hardly wait to play the HD remake of the first game, renamed as New n Tasty!

Panzer Dragoon 2 on the Saturn was a huge step up for me from the first one. It was so much faster and I really liked the new composer. Virtua Figher 2, same thing. Faster gameplay, crisper graphics just made the game so much better. Tobal No. 2 on the PSX was also really cool. It had a 60 FPS mode that was a blast to play.
