I enjoyed bf3 more than 4, it just felt more rounded off. Less guns, but they had personality. Weapons with larger calibers felt more punchy compared to lower caliber counterparts so I felt like there was personal choice being regarded. BF4 just had too many guns, and often I felt that it didn't matter what I picked, as most things felt exactly the same. I played support alot, and in bf3 I could tell you the pros and cons of belt fed lmgs, chinese lmgs, russian lmgs, and the mag loaders each had. I could tell you good choices depending on map and playstyle, whereas in bf4, you could pick anything really.

There's a few things missed about the guns. 1. TTK. The time to kill was perfect in BF3. In BF4 they made it slower. The result was often times leaving enemies with 1 health or being unable to even deal with more than one opponent. It felt sloppy and bad. 2. Hip fire. Hip fire was MUCH more viable in BF3 than BF4. 3. It just feels..off. I don't know how to describe this one but often times I would feel like I had perfect aim and some how those bullets just missed. The gun fights felt awful compared to BF3. Though I will say the campaign is AWFUL in both games. Just generic spunkgargleweewee nonsense. No freedom to the player, just an interactive movie, barely better than a quicktime event.
@AaronSampsonMedia3 жыл бұрын
These are spot on. Man, it's so hard sometimes to explain exactly what feels off with BF4's gunplay, it just is.
@emp19853 жыл бұрын
How can I like a comment more than once?? This. TTK and weapon consistency. That alone forced me to play almost exclusively Hardcore in BF4, whereas I could play in Normal in BF3 with no complaints. That was by far the main issue with BF4. Other than that, it's a toss of a coin. I had lots of fun with both. I so hope they bring back that damage model in BF2042.

I'm probably one of the very few people who loved the suppression in BF3. Battlefield 3 was and still is lightning in a bottle. It was my first entry into the franchise (ironically by accident from the Medal of Honor Reboot) But just on that alone it holds a special place in my gaming nostalgia. And I'm guessing more and more than I'm in the minority when it comes to the suppression system from BF3, which I was actually pretty well accustomed to. To me, it added to the immersion of being in a firefight. That snap of a round flying past and blurring and affecting my accuracy gave me that since of 'Shit, cover!' and relocate to a better position. But again, that was just me. It also seemed like the content was more worth while with Battlefield 3, even with the Premium Pass system. Ironically, it's seemed as if ever since the Live Service model started getting used with Battlefield, the content just hasn't felt the same. cosmetics, minimal map drops. maybe a new weapon here and there. But with Battlefield 3's Premium...all the new and extra content just felt worth the additional cost. Sadly, it's felt like Battlefield has been on a slow downward spiral since Battlefield 4. Speaking honestly. If we could get a Battlefield 3 Remastered, I'd take that over what we're seeing with 2042 any day.

The destruction was alright but making every building destructible lead to every building looking almost the exact same. Had more fun with BF3 than all the others. Don't know if it is better objectively. But I did notice the maps from later games left alot to be desired. Although if I never play nosharh canals again it will be too soon. i used every class extensively but by the end i knew the maps and the weapons sounds so well i would play defender with support everytime. if you knew your spots, 1 lmg with a bipod could shift the entire match (the maps were good enough that those spots were variable) also, i could tell where a player was, who they were, and where they were going just from hearing what they were shooting once or twice. some people had to have been pissed when they thought they had found a totally abandoned area of the map to infiltrate from and 1 second later theyre getting shot in the back of the head with a pistol.

never thought i would find myself agreeing with gamestop but here i am. GREAT points alot of which are never mentioned by youtubers. agree with basically everything you said. bf3 was the most fun.

BF1 was a cinematic masterpiece that really just put you in the shoes of a terrified conscript in the First World War. A lot of design decisions I wasn’t a fan of, but I’ll be damned if it’s not fun to revisit sometimes just for the sheerly oppressive atmosphere of war.

I honestly loved both BF3 and BF4. Having been playing Battlefield since BF1942 (yes I'm old, I know), each BF game has its own ups and downs. When it comes to BF3 and BF4, I think BF3 had better maps that were not just not just bigger, but the game modes played better on them, rush is a very good example of this. BF3 also had a more clear cut class design that made things pretty equal. BF4 had better customization over BF3, and also did away with the notoriously overpowered weapons that plagued BF3 for the longest times *cough cough USAS 12 with frag rounds *cough cough M26 Dart. BF3 definitely beat BF4 in terms of software though, BF4's netcode issues killed that game for so many people, especially with how long it took for them to fix it. I just wish we could have a Battlefield game that would incorporate the best elements of both BF3 and BF4.

Battlefield 3 is the first Battlefield game I played, it was a long time ago and I wasn't familiar with Battlefield, when I played the campaign I was so impressed sadly I didn't finish it because it was so real I felt nauseous.

I've been a BF fan since BF2 but back when I played on console I had at least 3000 hours in BF3. It is the paragon of mutiplayer FPS games. It's just a timeless game that looks and plays great back then and even today. BF4 is a good game but it didn't expand on 3 in any meaningful way. The weapon catalog got larger but each one lacked distinction and heft. I remember a big difference between MW3 and BF3 is the guns in BF3 had a nice heft and good bass behind them but in 4 almost every gun sounds dull and peppery and the gunplay seems to be missing.. something. I distinctly remember playing the BF3 Beta and noting how each gun had it's pros and cons but that each felt powerful and useful in their own context but when I played BF4 the weapons all felt weak and homogeneous. The time to kill (TTK) is also slower in BF4 and just makes the guns feel as weak as they sound. The maps in BF4 had a lot in them but the environments lacked detail or purpose and the layouts were HORRIBLE. I can tell you about almost every map from BF2, BFBC1, BFBC2, BF1943, BF3, BF1 and yes, even some from BFV but I can only think of Paracel Storm and Siege of Shanghai from BF4. They have a worse version of Operation Metro which I can't recall the name of (Locker?), and Paracel Storm just feels like a worse Wake Island. Many of the maps harken back to better designed maps from the past which is a bad thing in my opinion and clearly the devs thought so too because several expansions were dedicated to BF3 maps and classics like Caspian Border and Operation Firestorm or the maps that the BF4 maps were trying to mimic like Wake Island and Operation Metro which ended up overtaking their knock-off counterpart in server popularity. In the end it seems like devs paid too much attention to Levelution which made the maps worse after the cool cinematic setpiece occurred and less attention on the fun and cohesion of the map. It was like a marketing gimmick gone too far. Cool to show in a trailer, sure, but ultimately not great from a gameplay design standpoint. Having been in the top 100 players for aerial vehicles kills on Xbox360, I can safely say the vehicles lacked finesse and the specializations/ upgrades were too strong in BF4 which is a problem that plagues BF games to this day but especially because in BF4 the environment details were so poor in the City-based maps where as an infantry you feel powerless even as a coordinated squad because you stick out against the backdrop. There are no opportunities for ambushes especially because half the buildings are dummy buildings you can't go into and the whole city-scape is a polygonal grey blob. Going against tanks as infantry was a nightmare with the Active Protection which not only enabled tanks to negate damage entirely, but also allowed them to scurry away from combat and reposition entirely unscathed. Coupled with the fact that all vehicles were incredibly fast, namely the jets and tanks, it was almost a necessity to have an equally skilled pilot or tank engineer to destroy vehicles. BF1 and BFV have some similar issues but BF4 was far and away the worst. I know BF4 has a lot of hype returning to it because 2042 is it's sequel and I know many people had their first experiences on BF4 but it is an inferior game to BF3 from an objective standpoint in many ways.
