I wear my schwinn bike helmet when I daydream about operating. I used a sharpie to black out "schwinn" and I wrote "Haley" and drew a dragonfly. I put flames around the dragonfly so when people say, "Haley doesn't make helmets" I can say they asked me to beta test their new line. I duct taped my GoPro on it to imitate that NVG look without that nvg price tag. Most of the guys at the shooting range can't tell the difference. I think.

During my basic, when we first got our very first helmets, we thought that they were invincible (back then) and that they'd protect us from all sorts of bumps and even bullets. So me and a buddy decided to charge at each other like two pairs of rhinos and bump our helmets against each other. At least the nurse in the infirmary was pretty hot.
@darkhorse68293 жыл бұрын
Break away/fall away mounts are good. Here's my input from experience with them in a Blackhawk crash. I used to fasten the lanyard of NVG's high up on the rear of helmet,because I didn't like it dangling on my neck,so wore it that way.. It was always fine. Then one night was in a 30 plus G crash from 536 AGL. Hit so damn hard that they fell away as designed.. However, the shitty part was the NVG's slammed me in the jaw really really hard. Felt like a.really solid bare knuckle punch to the jaw. Busted skin open on the jaw line.. Back of helmet was busted up from smacking head on back of seat.. The worst injury was the broken back. The biggest wound hands down would be what the Army did to me after the injury. The sole reason I talked my sons out of serving.. Point blank. They don't give a fuck!! So, much so they will cut you loose without being fixed to only suffer at the utter incompetence of the V.A. . uncle Sam as it turns out is a grimy prick.

@@bblue651 yeah, they had no problem allowing me to continue doing missions with a broken back for 3 months. As soon as I was back in Hawaii I got the boot pretty quick. It was a strange time. However, there were some silver Linings.. Was able to be with and take care of my Father everyday until he died and was able to get full custody of my youngest son.. ( women bounce quick when the man is hurt) so, although it has been a 14 year hell, there has been some good. Getting custody of my son was the biggest win. He was born 4 days after crash.. The target was is sight! Gleaming white and square, I knew this to be a most critical moment for when I would open the door the inside light would take away my night vision and leave me defenseless for a few precious seconds. I flipped up my NOD and it instantly turned off. I decided to go for broke and enter explosively, I ripped open the door, eyes squinting from the new light, but I had achieved my mission, the leftover pot roast was there exposed, ready for the taking...... His head was sticking out of the track, so the branch hit him while the M113 was moving. It tore his helmet off and almost broke his neck. He didn’t get any lasting injuries, so he continued to serve.

I was blessed to have a friend find me a gently used blemless Elbit Gen 3 thin filmed green phos PVS-14 for $1950 shipped. Low Light Innovations makes a terrific "white" filter that essentially mimics white phos in appearance with limited light transmission loss for only $25. To save money on the mount, he suggested an "Evolution Gear L4G24 NVG Mount Perfect Replica" for only $85 shipped instead of the $465 for the real one, and the quality is phenomenal. I also picked up a used Wilcox AN/PVS-14 Arm for $150 shipped down from the original $229 price. Botach has a Longfri Level IIIA ballistic helmet for only $199 that is around 3 pounds, good quality for the price and there are lots of ballistic test videos on them. I also went with the FCS AMP Headset that is a fully functioning Replica of the Ops Core AMP for only $175 shipped down from $999 for the real one. I plan on running a Disco 32 PTT with them to get my Comms squared away. Although all of this stuff is still expensive, there are ways of making NVGs and Comms realistically affordable instead of an unobtainable pipe dream. I highly encourage yourself and others to do the same. I was able to have just as functional of a setup for a little more than $2,500 that would have been $7,500+ if I had gone "Gucci" on everything...

As a civvy, I just picked up an old PASGT in excellent condition, slapped in an aftermarket suspension kit, and called it a day. Didn't have $300+ to spend on a brand new helmet, and knew from tests these helmets didn't actually go bad. Gives me the same protection as any modern helmet; it just can't mount all that stuff I can't afford to buy anyway. Really, it just depends on what you need it for. If you're going full operator, and have the money to invest, by all means buy a modern tactical helmet. If you just need head protection, though, you can get an excellent helmet for under $100 and then upgrade it to make it very comfortable.

I’m going get dressed up and take my girl out to a nice day out at a airsoft game. I like the idea of using my comtacs to call my mom so she can pick me up. I’ll be camouflage so she probably won’t see me. I’ll use my visible strobe on my MS-2000 so she can locate me.

When I was in the army I was using the standard issue MCH I was doing inverted egress training. The damn thing was so high that when I released my harness, it hit the roof and my body weight came down on my neck and it hurt like a bastard.

The very 1st time I ever used NVGs I tried to turn around in a doorway and smashed them into the frame bad. Lucky they were old ass 7s and we were just seeing what ones were still working. By the end of the day there were 2 more broken.

If your a LEO or military, and team Wendy is good for you, I respect your decision. Buy the equipment that will save YOUR life. But for the other consumers out there, we don’t need team Wendy, especially since their political allegiances are shady at best. Buy OPSCORE
@operationbrokenarrow69644 жыл бұрын
2 year's late to the comment here but just wanted to pop in and give my word on the situation. Stop worrying about what a company does politically if they have a good product. I don't like spiritus but the micro fight is awesome so I still ended up getting it. It makes life easier. You can then talk shit on the company all you want but recognize they still make good products lol.
@fury5564 жыл бұрын
Itcilis yeah of course, surefire recently had a scandal with political donations, but since they make the best pistol light on the market, I rock one of their lights. In my original comment I said that if it’s to save your life then buy it
@servitube4 жыл бұрын
@@fury556 I mostly agree and almost never buy from "woke" companies, but make an exception with Team Wendy. Their helmets are THAT good. They fit perfect, don't move at all, and are comfortable enough to wear for hours. CEOs daughter (Wendy) was killed in a skiing accident, which is why he started the company, and the passion comes through in the product. Also, while TW could have handled the situation better, the Hillary people practically invited themselves to the facility for that event. They were trying to co-opt the 2A demographic for the election.

While I was training, I was told a story of a man who got his head caught between the nose landing gear flaps of a certain Boeing military aircraft while it was in a hangar for maintenance. Turns out the safety mechanism for those flaps was not properly engaged. The thing to know about about aircrafts is they’re capable of thousands of lbs. of hydraulic pressure and all moving components run off of it. Not only did he survive, he continued his service. He told my class the story.

CircaSriYak .......and dedicated ammo selection in 9mm will cut straight through it. You do realize high velocity copper ammo is now commonly available, nevermind that you are more likely to face a rifle if you are in a situation where you are running a full kit load out.
