This episode had way too much for a weekly airing anime, most anime waste time with staredowns and looped animation just to get to the 19-minute mark and get to the ED. But Re:Zero is here flexing 29-minute episodes with no OP or ED just pure story and characters. This episode is my favourite of part 2 just Wow. I mean, this fight alone should've been the episode but we got another 10 minutes of Roswall v.s Ram and Puck. Re:Zero is something special.

So her going down here by being crushed while having a big smile on her face was so out of place. they are basically alternate in the story, showing what would have happened if Subaru made a different decision at certain points. for example, the greed if route is what would've happened if Subaru made a contract with echidna, and the sloth if route is what would've happened if rem ran away with Subaru in S1

Honestly, they did such good work, there's some amazing tiny details. Rewatch to catch all those voices during the third trial, play recognize the voice... And the return of Otto's oil, that he bought too much of, mentiones way back in...season 1 episode 17 I think? And during that flash of fire and angry Emilia...there's one shot that shows blood on a hexagonal tiled floor. Go back to season one, you can find that floor. It ain't the mansion.

In LN, Elsa was not waiting for death because she wanted to, but because before Garfiel had broken one of her arms and ripped off a piece of her heel, making her unable to move, her death was strange in the anime with her just standing still.

This fight stuck in my mind, and I’ve rewatched it several times. I can’t help but think Elsa telling Garf her backstory was actually intended as a mercy to him to allow him to recover after the transformation clearly drained him. And I suspect she wouldn’t have gone so easily at the end if she didn’t know Meili was going to be safe in the end. What a villain. To the end, I can’t help but love her character.

It was her questionable, yet clear, sense of values. Honestly, I’m a little perplexed by your question, because I don’t see how her being a woman had anything to do with why her character was great.

Idixal no because I have seen many of the same character traits as Elsa in different anime where they are portrayed as male and they were really hated. I’m quite confused why people want her to stay alive for a bit when she and many other “insane” characters are the same but viewed very differently.
