I had just finished watching "Part 1" which ended around 45:00, and I thought, "Wouldn't having an index of topics and times be extremely helpful?" And then I scrolled down to the comments and saw your post. That took a lot of work on both your part as well as flightsim481. Thanks to both of you. Very much appreciated.

I realize that you had published this video over 6 years ago, but it still very pertinent today. I am very in tune with your method of teaching which makes learning easy and enjoyable. I am a novice pilot learning to fly. Thank you for your thorough explanations of the G1000 which I intend to use to its fullest in X-Plane 12 flying the same Cessna N172SP plane as in your examples. Great video. Just one point I noticed; at 1:28:50 when talking about adding a waypoint, you say you want to add one after POTON and place your cursor on that, which obviously added it before. You did clarify it a little later, so hopefully no one will end up confused.

Just thought I'd mention that PFD is Primary Flight Display (not Pilot's display) and DTK is Desired Track (not Direct Track). And ETE is Estimated Time Enroute not Estimated Time of Arrival, which is a different thing.

Looking for challenging airport? Here it is: LSZA, in southern Switzerland. It has a steep, 6.65° straight-in ILS approach and two 5.4° and 4.4° ILS approaches with break-offs followed by circling visual approaches in a narrow valley. The runway has a length of about 900 m suitable for regional turboprop airliners, executive jets and general aviation airplanes. The magnificent region is surrounded by 3 lakes. Aerosoft has a specific scenery for LSZA which comes for free with their X-Plane DVD distribution or which they sell separately on their site but which the X-Plane store also sells. I look forward for a video on a LSZA approach from a pro like you, perhaps with the same C172/G1000 settings ;-)

Hi, Thanks for a great instructional video. I realise it’s been around for quite a while, but I only found it recently. One thing I didn’t quite fully understand was that during the setup for the ILS21 approach, around 2:04:30 ish in the video there were 4 different iaf’s listed for CIT. You chose CIT2 but didn’t fully explain the reasoning why CIT2. Although I’ve looked at the NATS AIP charts and info for Cranfield EGTC I haven’t found anything to explain the criteria for selecting the correct join. Maybe I missed something. Can you or anyone else who knows provide a quick explanation. Thanks and thanks again for the great video work. Regards
@flightsim4814 жыл бұрын
Hi, glad you enjoyed it. As you say, the video is quite old so I can't recall exactly how I figured out it was the CIT2. I think it was by trial and error, loading each SID in turn and comparing the plan view drawn by the G1000 to the Navigraph charts. It's a pain as it does it with quite a few approaches in the UK, but familiarity helped as I flew part of my instrument rating out of Coventry. Hope that helps, Rich

One of the best explanation of G1000, 👍👍 just one question about approach what if we are entering with heading between 110 to 142 ?? Holding pattern is not suitable for parallel or tear drop entry as it is clockwise
@vikramodedra43513 жыл бұрын
theoretically to enter this holding while flying between heading 33 to 142 we need to do parallel entry that makes this approach difficult, for heading 142 to 322 one would take direct entry onto holding (or procedure turn ) or should we fly ILS straight for this entry? only easy one is 322 to 33

Its like after my destination the star appear insted of before ....hope u get it,,,fms planning hurts with g1000 i guess , im in between
