Garrett should thank you for selling another AT Max. I have had an AT Pro for a few years now and love it, but when it comes to beach hunting, I can’t really search the wet sand, I have to stay in the dry stuff. Well done!

Best Video so far.. others seem to be having issues with noise & chatter.
@DetectorComparisons7 жыл бұрын
I believe when the sensitivity is all way up and the ground is somewhat mineralized, you will hear a lot of chatter because the ATM is extremely sensitive. Backing off slightly on the sensitivity will help.

Hi did u know the goldenmask 5+ se? Better than at pro?
@JerryR1776 Жыл бұрын
How come the AT Max detects deeper targets and it's frequency is 13.6Khz, but the AT Pro has a frequency of 15Khz?? Shouldn't the AT Pro find deeper targets? I'm asking because when I am able to afford a metal detector, I need to be comfortable with the one I get.
@DetectorComparisons Жыл бұрын
Frequency does not relate to depth. Both frequency ranges on the Max and Pro are good for a full range of targets. The Max puts out more power and does go deeper than the pro

The max is a fine machine but not big enough a step up from my AT gold to justify the extra purchase cost. The gold is a faithful and reliable companion and at the level of comfort and familiarity that could operate blindfold and know exactly what it's telling me. You know you got it bad when you have conversations with your detector and think of it as a friend!

Hey Andrew, I'm looking for my first machine, so I wanted to ask you if you had it to do from scratch would you still choose the "GOLD" over the "MAX"? I do plan to use it in shallow salt water as well as everywhere else. CHEERS, Kenny
@andrewwilson83177 жыл бұрын
Kenny Howell hi there mate. Either is a great machine but if possible I would say go for the Max. Garrett has really done it's homework and really polished the existing AT pro/ gold design to make quite possibly the best all round machine on the market. For me, as an existing owner of a gold, it is harder to justify the cost- benefits of trading up but ab initio purchase makes so much sense. Welcome to the family and wishing you many happy hours hunting and finding.
@kennyhowell15377 жыл бұрын
Hi again Andrew, Thank you very much for taking time to answer in such a helpful way. I really do appreciate your knowledge and experience. I don't have any brand loyalty, so I'm wide open to all the possibilities however, as you said "the best all round machine" I do feel the MAX sounds right for me and it's in my budget. Thanks again, CHEERS, Mate.

I am amateur. So please be kind. I am thinking about upgrading my detector. Question: can either one of these machines tell me if a nickle is a nickle or could it possibly be a pull tab? I can stand to keep my cheaper detector if can't differentiate between them. Thank you
@DetectorComparisons5 жыл бұрын
Pull tabs read slightly higher than nickels. The tail piece of an old pull tab reads like a nickel. Many gold rings will read in the pull tab range. While at trashy parks, I dig it all when the target is deep but the shallow pull tab signals I ignore even though I know I'm missing shallow gold. Unfortunately all the detectors do is measure conductivity.
@karenandrews86955 жыл бұрын
@@DetectorComparisons Thank you so much. I run the F2. I have found silver, lots of clad. But I don't find many nickles. Lol but oh a ton of pull tabs and caps.

You didn't do much with displaying recovery time in between targets. Iron nail then good coin in very close proximity would have revealed a lot about both of these sticks.

An inch or 2 in depth isn't enough for me to buy an AT Max.Ive got the AT Pro and Gold and a buddy has the new Max. It was slightly deeper than the Pro and about the same as the Gold with the Gold being a touch deeper maybe on low conductors. Now, I may still get one though.I watched a couple "sponsored" videos where you can clearly see the people exaggerating the depth differences. It's was disappointing to see people do this. Yours seemed fair though.
@DetectorComparisons7 жыл бұрын
My guess is its a solid 2" deeper on coin sized targets. The All Metal search mode punches down very deep. I look forward to seeing how it does in the field.
@livewithnick7 жыл бұрын
DetectorComparisons I ended up buying the Max and I'm getting around an inch more depth than the pro here in Alabama. If I put my Tornado coil on the Pro then I can get the same and sometimes a little more depth maybe than the Max. My Gold is as deep at least as the Max using the same size coil. I still really like the machine for the wireless and volume control though.

i own an At pro and was very excited wating for the Atmax but i get tired, boring and mad for that long wait and i decided to buy a XP Deus and i don't regret, this thing is a beast, sorry AT max.
@DetectorComparisons7 жыл бұрын
I hunt with the Deus on land all the time and love it but if you like the wet salt water sand, don't bring the Deus. The ATM will do better for you.
@Thebigmanmetaldetecting7 жыл бұрын
DetectorComparisons I own the deus and as long as you have the Ariel cable the deus works perfectly fine in salt water and I also noticed that you didn't let the coil go in the water because it would have went bat shit crazy simple put the max is the AT pro with a new sticker wireless headphones and volume controls Ohh and the software tweaked so the VDI numbers Are different
@DetectorComparisons7 жыл бұрын
Used the cable and it allows the Deus to work with the coil submerged, but you still have to tune down the Deus to get it to work well in salt water. You seem to know the AT Max thinking it will go crazy in the salt water; the surf will be calmer this week and I plan on giving it a test while wading and diving. I'll post the link here once its up.

What settings do you suggest for coin hunting in relatively mild soil?
@DetectorComparisons6 жыл бұрын
All depends on the amount of iron, trash, etc. I like to hear everything and run with an "open screen" so I hear the iron grunts and the good targets. Running in Zero mode is just my preference. If your park hunting and want coins, the coin mode will do well for you.

It will be quiet on salt water because they use additional filtering. But like with MX Sport, this metal detector will be shallow in this conditions. Sorry.

Michał Majchrowicz sorry but this video pretty much disproves what you said.
@omnitron7 жыл бұрын
Heart of Dixie Relic Hunting on try sand not on wet! If you know how vlf work you understand easy everything about depth. You have kind noise cancel filter on wet section when you calibrate it. Compare with Excalibur. Depth will be difftent.
@DetectorComparisons7 жыл бұрын
The ATM won't go as deep in the wet sand as on dry sand because you have to turn down the sensitivity about two levels (bars) but you still get good depth. 8"-10" on a nickel or ring in the wet salt water sand is a safe estimate.
@omnitron7 жыл бұрын
You need to turn it down... because it is single frequency unit. You can hunt. No problem and that is ok, but don't expect depth with it. The depth and good stable work only with multi-frequency or puls induction... but without true discrimination.
@TOMMYTURBOTREASURES7 жыл бұрын
Same depth as the at-gold, or the max is ever so slightly deeper... people wont buy a whole new detector for a bit extra depth... ? The at-gold is very under rated in my book to... its a better machine than the at-pro... greater depth👍 In my opinion the at-max is a cheap slightly up dated version of the old machines...plus the khz went the wrong way, they went down instead of up? Witch is bonkers to me, thats how they increased the depth a bit im guessing... the new minelab equinox will eat the at-max for breakfast 😄 on any terrain😁

the original at machines the pro and the gold are very good machines, so by no means am i rubbishing them, i bought my dad the at pro in fact and he loves it....i was more disappointed than anything else when i seen the at max and the low 13khz set up....mainly as they have clearly dropped the khz to gain that bit extra depth, with it all fair and well for some, but here in england we look for small thin hammered coins, and small ancient relics, so the khz is key to a good preforming machine in our conditions, i feel garrett have not given any consideration to us in the design of the machine here in england... on paper the nokta impact is a better machine and can go up to 20khz, witch gives a much better sensitivity range for small items... and being priced the same, its a no brianer...plus minelab have now thrown a brand new machine into the mix.... of witch can run multiply frequencies all at the same time....so its out doing the the nokta impact as it will pick up small items and go deep at the same time....sadly this leaves garrett way behind on all aspects...i felt so strongly about the khz level and the way it was set up i emailed garrett personally and gave a lengthy in depth reason as to why the set up wasnt applicable to us here in the uk....and that if anything they should have gone up in khz or have at least two freq to choose from....they just asured me the machine was ok on small items...lol.. i wish garrett well and i hope the machine is a success, but sadly im not buying one....:-(

TOMMY TURBO TREASURES I couldn't agree more with you Tommy they are still stuck in the 80's using single frequencies when most other top end detectors have variable or multiple frequencies it doesn't make any sense

i think the tech is ok but dated perhaps like you say, the versatility isnt suited for us, just not high enough for uk use, its geared up for the us market, and large us coins unlike our old coinage...shame as it could have been a good machine for the uk...like the old model are...lol
