This was my father’s favorite song. He passed away 11/30/2020. He was in a lot of pain, (dyalisis, several amputations.) he would ask me to play this and I would always tell him to stop listening to sad songs. It’s been two days since his burial, I find comfort in this song. Not because I’m depressed, but because I can understand now why he loved this song.

When I was a teenager I was very depressed and I couldn't even stand to listen to this song because it described how I felt and filled me with so much despair. Now, it doesn't affect me that dramatically because I've learned to see the world as a better place - but it still reminds me of how I felt back then.

This is a very sad song, that MAKES you sad. However, I love this song. If you are always sad like me, this song actually brings an odd satisfaction. I am content being sad. It feels like I can be myself and don't have to put on a fake smile for others... Being sad makes you no friends, so smile. I smile, so people don't think I am crazy. Idk why I'm crying about it on the internet of all places, where you get made fun of by people whose lives aren't great or good at all either.

You're not crying about it on the internet. You're reaching out for someone to understand you. I understand you very well because I was in your situation years ago. I was bullied and had no friends in school. In my school I was always alone and when I was home I always listened to music like this because as you say... it made me feel good in a way I can't explain. Nobody liked me so I didn't bother smiling or even try to be liked because I knew it was hopeless. But I always wanted to be that person who was liked by everyone. I always waited for a change. I endured all the pain because I had hope that someday things would get better. Today I have friends and things are looking good. But that burden that people like us carry after tough and long events will always be there. You are not alone my friend. Keep your hopes up and find comfort where you can until things get better. And things get better, it just takes time.

People attach this song with depression. But I think it depicts reality of the world. Everyone is running, preparing for the same rat race, running in circles.. We keep on repeating our mistakes. Its a song of self realization. Its a song to ponder on and start your inner journey. It's all the easter faiths tell us about. To live like a Lotus in this world, mad world.. unattached and focussed inside.

Once upon a time when I was 19, I faced a very, VERY, harsh rejection. And after hearing this song several times I lost it....& self harmed pretty good. I had to be mentally hospitalized for nearly a month. During my stay I had met this kind-hearted young nurse. The cutest. One late night I couldn't sleep. They had a piano for patients to play during times of ease. I played on it while singing this song softly. I lost my sanity again & cried so hard. And that nurse Cindi helped comfort me a bit. And we talked for hours about how I was feeling. So this song will Forever be cemented in my memory as ABSOLUTELY heartbreaking...😔😔

Someone will need you, and probably many Someones. You may be the only one who "gets" those Someones. Be there for them. You'll know where they've been, where they are, and where they will be. More than anyone they know. You're uniquely qualified. However, if you feel like hurting yourself or someone else, wait 15 minutes. If you still feel that way, wait another 15 minutes. Falling from on high,the wind swirls in all directions.A slow cascading spiral till we hit the earth.What we left behind was an abundance of life’s toils and darkness.There’s a comfort in being able to fall,the finality a sort of homecoming we envisioned.What’s left behind is what we extolled and discarded,others will now suffer with our ghost and yet the tree still stands and more leaves will fall

"Hide my head, I wanna drown my sorrow, no tomorrow, no tomorrow" you can see this line as depressive for 2 reasons. It obviously talkes about sorrow and no tomorrow, but for me it has another meaning. the speaker wants to drown his sorrow so they think about how there is no tomorrow. speaking of experience, after a certain point the thought of dying is the only comforting thing you can think of.

***** Yeah, 10 minute songs with various tempo changes, and virtuosic rhythms, multiple solos and atmosphere, Use of classical elements and keyboards. Yeah that's real one-dimensional alright.
@comradefreedom82758 жыл бұрын
***** I don't listen to Thrash metal much, you uppity fuck. I listen to black metal, prog and doom. My favorite band have you ever heard of Opeth? Dream Theater? Enslaved? Have you ever dug into the genre? Don't tell me you know anything about metal until you've heard all 40+ subgenres you dipshit. When I say I like metal, I don't mean Slayer, I mean Opeth. Don't assume that all metal fans like the same bands, dumbass.
@comradefreedom82758 жыл бұрын
***** Do I have to repeat myself? When I say that I like metal, I'M NOT TALKING ABOUT SLAYER, MEGADEATH, OR METALLICA. I like bands that are more dynamic and intricate with their music. And if you want to avoid being called an uppity fuck then don't call a person an idiot for how they discover music, or for the music they like. YOU started this, not me. Seriously, you came off as VERY pretentious and douchey. If you want an example of what I like, look up The Leper Affinity by Opeth, and listen to the WHOLE song.
@comradefreedom82758 жыл бұрын
***** Those bands aren't what I listen to. You can say whatever you want about THOSE bands. But to say that heavy metal is One dimensional because of THOSE bands, then that's a very broad, ignorant statement. I refer back to my uppity fuck comment. You're being an arrogant shit, talking out of his ass because he only heard 3 bands. Come back when you've heard EVERY genre. I guarantee you'll eat your words.

Frisco Martinez Mad world was also the trailer song for Gears of War, it's actually thanks to that trailer I remembered this version of the song. I had seen Donnie Darko when I was younger and loved this song but I ended up forgetting about it till I saw the gears of war trailer in 2006.

The original song was by a group in the early 80's. Lyrics are timeless. One must go through trials and tribulations to really grasp a hold of this song. Most of all American children are doped up on television shows and Disney world crap then later in their lives they start to realize how f'd up society really is . I'm really grateful for this song. I was raised up in Oakland, Calif during the 80's when Reagan was president.

When I was 13, I was bullied not only by the other school children but my teacher and principal as well... I was a incorrigible child so I was a outcast very difficult to deal with my mother confronted them about the bullying allegations but they denied and it continued. One day I had enough I thought suicide was my only excape as nobody believed me. so when I got home my mother was sleeping I took pills and wrote her a note saying I'm sorry mom I can't take the bullying anymore I told her I loved her and signed my name and placed it on her bedside and laid down hoping to drift off peacefully and die in my sleep this song is right we do live In a mad world when adults in the education profession can bully their students.
