As a new father of the happiest sweetest 6 month old little boy, i can confirm that the moment the doctor held him up and i first heard him cry, i turned into a big baby again and i still havent recovered. I never knew it was possible to love anyone as much as i love my son, and he cant even speak yet. Every time he laughs it makes my heart swell and i tear up. I have a video of him laughing while we were playing. I watch it whenever i have a bad day.

I am a proud son of a Marine father who served 23 years, now have a new born daughter. My wife shared this song with me because it reminded her of me. Sitting here listening to this song makes me think of my sister and I with my father. Seeing my new born daughter, it changed me, holding her little hands. her and my wife are everything to me..

I spent 4 years in combat and missed the births of all 3 of my daughters. Coming home and seeing and holding them for the first time was the most emotional times of my life. I've never cried so many tears. Takes everything I have to hold those tears back listening to this song and watching the video.

October 1991, my four year old daughter clung to my leg just before we loaded up on the trucks to go to Allen Army Airfield. She kept pleading with me to come home with her. I couldn't let her see me fall apart, so I kept it together until the plane was in the air. Now she is 26 and has a five year old daughter of her own. But each time I hear this song I can feel her tugging on my BDU pant leg all over again.

When I was 2 my father went deployed. I remember when I was 3 he returned home and I ran up to him when I saw him walking towards us. He went remote when I was 8 and I cried for the rest of the day when he got in the van. It's hard seeing parents leave.

My baby girl turned one 17 years ago today. 2 weeks later, some planes were used as weapons in a terror attack and I was activated by noon. My daughter sensed the mood as I came out of the bedroom in my BDUs ans clung to my leg until I picked her up. She cried as I set ger down and walked out. That little angel sacrificed for this nation too as I missed birthdays, her first day of kindergarten, and so much more of her life being a voice on the phone from thousands of miles away. Now, she's a woman and all I can see is my baby girl.

Active duty USAF, son of a 22 yr USAF vet and from a largely military/law enforcement (USAF, Marines ,Army, Navy, police, sherrifand corrections) family. I personally watched 2 Sailors, a Marine and a Soldier break down when their kids went to Kindergarten. Nothing makes you catch the feels more than a grown man who has seen some shit break down. Over. Child growing up.

When I would put my uniform on, my vest and my duty rig, and walk out to my truck my then 5 year old granddaughter would run out the door and hug my leg. Papa, you don’t have to go to work! Now she’s 18 and calls me everyday when I’m on duty (night shift patrol) and reminds me to be safe and that she loves me. I’m a Marine Corps grunt and cop for 13 years. Do you have any idea how hard it is not to tear up when that happens?!!

I met my future wife a few months before I had to decided on whether or not I would reenlist and knew that one day we would have a family. He wasn't there for the birth of his son, but he was lucky enough to be there for the birth of his baby girl. I haven't seen him in three years, my nephew was two last time I saw him, and I've never met my niece. Once again Mr Allen has delivered an amazing song. The fact that Our heroes were used in the video makes it even more spectacular. The men and women who serve this great country of ours so we can have the freedom which we do and sacrifice all they do speaks volumes to these true Hero's Thank you to everyone who has ever wore a uniform of our armed forces for we owe you a debt of gratitude and support

Just about made me cry! I am a father of two boys, ages 12 and 10, and a curly-blond-haired beautiful little girl who is 6. I haven't seen any of them in over a year. You just HAD to mention blond curls, didn't ya? God, I miss them! :)

I'm 58,the baddest mothereffer I ever encountered in my 7 years of SWG, training,Va,SD,grad,AIT2,boots down in country, many opps he cried like a bitch the day he got mail, and in it was a handful of ziplocked Polaroids, late summer 1990 of his newly born child, born about 10 days earlier back home... He died moments after opening that letter while showing me his beautiful newborn daughter and her mother's picture.. AK from 100 meters out.. I still bare the scars from where that round finally stopped and this song gutted me for a long time when it came out some 15-20 years agoish??.. now it's one of my favorites as my daughter who is now 13 going on 40 reminds me of how my best friend felt that day and moment just seconds before... Hug everyone who matters and even those that you believe don't.. Be nice, respect all.. One never knows when their last second has arrived...

I am currently in the service and even though I don't have a daughter, everytime I leave home my youngest sister cries. This song reminds me of that strong bond I have with her and makes me cry everytime I listen to it.

I would just like to take this time to thank all of the Branches of the Military, you all give so much for your country and I am eternally greatful for that. My father left us when I was a young child and I never got the Father/Daughter experience. I have a step-dad that means the world to me but nobody can ever replace the way I feel about my father. It hurts me to know that my father will never give me away and see my children grow up, but I know that he is happy where he is. RIP Daddy

My brother is very much this: Hes was this big tough kid who likes to act like he's the biggest baddest thing on the block. Still does at 26. But when that ultrasound showed they were expecting he burst into tears. Still cries every time he sees it- He's gonna be a wonderful dad.

My daddy was supposed to serve in the army but he had frost bite on his hands so they sent him home & 2 years after I was born. When I started growing hair as a child it was blonde curls. I was my parents & my grandparents miracle baby & grand baby. My daddy played me this & cried. But I want to take a minute & say thank you for veterans & their families & friends.

I don't think you understand what all the US army has done and what a proud thing it is to be a part of them. My daddy was in the army, as was my mom, my uncle, and both my grandfathers. It is a noble enterprise and you should not be disrespecting the people who give their lives to protect ours.

My oldest son defended several people against bullies. He cried like a baby when his son was born, but that is where his story ends. His wife had him killed and now he sees his son growing from heaven.

I use to sing this to my daughter every night for her flal sleep all the time she was in the NICU man that little angle made me break down so many times during her time of illness , luckily she is in perfect health now :) but damn amazing how something so small can make one so weak truly.

I remember being in preschool and I had no idea my dad was coming home on leave (he is retired navy) and he showed up with my mom (also retired navy) and my brother to surprise me at school I think that was probably the most joy and excitement I have ever felt seeing my daddy who had been gone for a long time walk through my school doors. Every time he came home on leave after that he surprised us at the house lol it was always tickle fights and dog pile on dad lol. I love my dad so much.
