I am not an UPSC or IAS aspirant. I am much older to sit for these competitive exams. However, I want to say that whatever Gaurav has said is spot on, it is correct and realistic. I wish I had this kind of guidance when I was a student. There were no smartphones back then. He is correct, always have a plan B no matter what other people say. In my view doctor and engineer from good colleges are successful in IAS exam because they don’t have the kind of insecurity compared to a simple unemployed graduate. That is in addition to the fact that they are good students. Success is usually not one big accomplishment but it is the accumulation of many small wins that requires consistency and discipline. And don’t ignore health, simple fact is unhealthy people cannot study or work and it is the only thing that stays with you.

Sir , I am a beginner for upsc preparation as you told analysis of pervious years question paper is must but sir I am finding difficulty in analysing it. Sir can you make a more detailed session on how to analyse PYQ .

First you have to complete the syllabus atleast once...then only you can know about PYQs patterns

Go through the syllabus of CSE religiously and once you have good understanding of the syllabus... start reading the basic books like a novel, once you are done with the first reading, go through with PYQ and try to connect with the syllabus and once you are done with that go for second reading with same subject ...you will find the difference...you will be able to pick the important topics and repeated themes from that subject. Finally, when you are done with third reading.. take out the PYQ of last 5-6 years ...start solving the PYQ topic wise ..if you able to solve it...well and good...if not revise and try again.
