i was born in 2002 and this was so fun to watch where my exit is in robina wow its changed so much its really sad how the government cut down so many trees it was so green back then damn looks like your taking a drive on somewhere up north on the bruce highway but nope thats the gold coast... and omg from reedy creek to palm beach was 1 lane hadnt opened the other side yet wow!!! now they just opened 5 lanes going north before the reedy creek exit so crazy!!!

So weird seeing this video 41 now. This was 3 yrs b4 i started driving i cant remember lights at nerang. But i also cant remember the tugan to reedy creek being anything but 60ph and road works lol

Tugun was so congested before the bypass opened up.

Wow, used to be 1 lane each way between Currumbin Valley lights to Palm Beach exit. Looked like a country drive there. Now, the M1 upgrading that section, for first time since this section duplicated in 1998. 25 years later!

wow a lot of the on ramps are very short, looks dangerous. Can hardly think a lot of the vehicles back then would have been able to accelerate to 100 km/h safely!

There were tons of exits along the highway then. Some were old at-grade junctions converted to exits and some were newer interchanges, all done to fully grade-separate the highway. Ultimately it just became a mess (I can't believe how many signs were on the highway!), and many of these exits were removed when the highway was upgraded to the M1 in 2000 (even the Computer Road and Peachey Road ones were ripped out, and they were only opened in 1991).
