So, I have a question and hopefully someone can answer it. I wasn’t born in America and learned English as a second language. I saw your screen name and so I figure since you were born in America, you might be able to answer my question lol. I’ve always been confused when people say “do you mind if I….” And then people respond with “yeah go ahead” but my question is, if they are saying “do you mind…” wouldn’t you respond with “no, go ahead” because if you don’t mind, you’d answer with a no, but if you do mind, you’d say yes. Yet people respond with a “yeah sure” when asked “do you mind”. I’m very confused by this. Does anyone know why it’s answered this way? It’s a long shot that anyone will answer but I’m genuinely curious
