I was fortunate enough to see George Carlin live 3 times on stage. To me he was much more than a comedian. He has said some of the funniest and most poignant statements I’ve ever heard. I think it would have been amazing to be able to talk to him and get his opinion on all topics. I feel like he was one of the best people to have lived, again not just in his comedy but how his brain worked.

He was dead for a couple of years when I first discovered him. Can't get enough of it. In German there is an idiom: Too nice/beautiful to be true. Georgie turns it upside down: Too true to be nice. I love you, old boy, and if the heaven you didn't believe in does exist, you certainly already know, your purgatory sentence must have been served in a sec. For all the truth you spread, and all the, well, if not hope, then certainly stoicism you installed in those who listened to you and had a laugh. Zanx

Started listening to Carlin in the early 1970's when I was buying comedy albums with my allowance, after getting Bill Cosby I started out as a child from an aunt one birthday, I,of course found Lenny Bruce, Red Foxx amoung other comedians, some just one shot wonders, anybody else have a 45 of Ajax liquor store? And I think you can call me Ray you can call me Jay you can call me RJ but you don't have to call me Johnson was only funny once. And of course Cheech and Chong albums, Richard Pryor.it drove my parents crazy because of the language. Be sitting down in the basement with a half dozen friends with a Carlin album on the Technics turn table, usually class clown. With a bowl of weed going around just to have my mother come down with her glass of wine and want to listen, always a fun time because that's back when the old man would put a foot in your ass for smoking pot in his house. Thank God for the invention of 8-track tape so we could set out in the Vista cruiser smoke our marijuana and listen to Carlin. My first Carlin album was am and fm. George Carlin opened my eyes to reality, and look at things just a little differently than everybody else was.
