Thank you for your detailed explanation of how the soap compartment works. I was checking the other end and didn't know about this spring behind the timer until I finally found another post that referenced it but did not show very good pictures. Had same problem with top of spring post being broken off. Once I found your post I determined it was quicker and easier to service this spring by removing the timer to gain unobstructed view and access. Drilled a small through hole right behind post just below where it broke off and attached spring through the hole and then stretched it to connect to the white actuator arm. Works fine now.

Thank you for posting. The spring perch had broken off, was able to drill and tap a hole for a 6/32 screw in the remaining plastic and re attached the spring to it.

Same problem. Because the plastic tower link to the spring had snapped and no brand nor amount of glue was up for the task I simply installed a tiny screw to attach the spring to.

I was just having problems. I opened the back panel and everything looked okay. Springs at the different locations were working. But the soap door wouldn't lock. I left the soap door as it and ran a short wash cycle and I could hear the clicking of one of the arms operating. If my circuit boards weren't talking to eat other I knew I may have to replace my dishwasher since I've had it from 2003. I see that parts are available. Some basic parts like a lever arm or two but no electronic boards. But then I remember that a week ago we had sort of a power blink. It was making my UPS for my computer make noises and the lights barely blinked. I thought of trying to reset the dishwasher by shutting off the circuit breaker. That cleared up my problem.

Yup post broke for spring. Incidentally, the shaft where spring attaches was broken. My ingenious fix for that was I drilled a hole on the remaining post through the side of it and used a tie wrap through the hole. I then put the hook end of the spring on the tie wrap and squeezed the end with pliers to stay on. Then same with the other end to the plastic lever that rides the timer cam. It works good. Thanks for the tips.

If that plastic tab is broken drill a small hole and use a unpunched rivet or screw. It will hold in once you put the timer back on.
