As Brandon Carter said, if you want to wake up early then you have to go to bed early. Track everything you do! & Operating with less than 7 hours of sleep on a daily basis will drastically start to affect you.

I feel the reason for checking your phone and engaging in "unproductive" habits AS SOON AS YOU WAKE UP, might actually be because you wake up kind of late, it's like the day has started and you missed out. And that's where FOMO (fear of missing out) comes to play, it could be group chats, social media posts, you actually get notified of the world having woke up before you. A good quote i heard idk from where about waking up early: "wake up before the world, unbothered"

The tough part is not knowing the point. Anything I impose on myself is self imposed and so I have to ask myself why I would choose anything and I can't come up with a satisfying answer. Ted Kazinsky wrote about this. His main point was that we were evolved to get satisfaction from survival and just living was enough. However we have delegated our survival to technology and now we are struggling to find meaning since we no longer get our meaning from simply surviving and living. In order to cope with this we make stuff up like working out but deep down we are always facing a subtle existential crisis because we know we don't have to and it's just a choice. We struggle with whether we are making the best choices and whether all choices are arbitrary.

I start working at 8 am. When I moved down to Florida at the end of May, I started waking up at 4:30 am. Overtime, since my lifestyle has so much cardio involved, along with us losing sunlight, I started waking up at 6:30 am latest. Still very productive, and I immediately walk 1 mile to the YMCA to get my hygiene ready to go to work. It feels very nice, especially since I can watch the sunrise on the walk.

I used to wake up at like 10-11am last year but I didn't like how the day felt going by fast while I do stuff. Couple months ago I began experimenting what time would likely be better for me and I find waking up 8-9am was just better. It's great because I have classes at 12 so I have enough time to do my morning routine, check assignments or anything that's necessary. After that I workout and do more school stuff or start pursuing my real hobbies.

C'mon Austin, this one ain't it. Waking up early is usually a by product of your life circumstances, it does not have anything to do with your character traits. This is coming from someone who wakes up at 4:30 am & go to bed at 10-12 pm (Martial Arts - Work - Lifting - Family Time). I don't wake up at 4:30am "because I'm better than everyone", I wake up early because there's more stuff for me to get done during the day. That's all
