wookies actually learned the lesson hard way by getting enslaved so many times they finally had some industrial modernisation like building owool interceptor which was their unique interceptor class aircraft besides the auzituck gunship which was an attacker gunship. the owools provided kashyyk protection and prevented darth cayedus fleet from further advancing into wookie mainland. and yuzhong vong war happened after 2nd galactic civil war so obviously wookies by then invented or manufactured many of their own version of military vehicles and ships for their protection. they finally learned to adapt amd survive properly after such a lomg history of pain and suffering. on the other hand Geonesians got wiped out by imperials. nightsisters and mandalorians all got almost destroyed. Yet wookies survived the test of time

For the most part that's true. Droids are distrusted and disliked by many in the galaxy though because of the CIS. If it could be done reasonably well by an organic or done really well by a droid, most would still pick the organic. Just look at the 2-1B medical droid for proof. It could out perform most surgeons, and had knowledge on several species' anatomy, yet most feared undergoing surgery by them. Slaves of course a cheap alternative to paying for unskilled labor.

@@shadow9774 Slaves aren't cheap even in Star Wars. It requires a considerable investment to acquire, train, equip, and guard slaves. Droids on the other hand can be fired with restraining bolts, programmed for specific tasks, periodically mindwiped to ensure absolute compliance, and work in any environment. Besides, yhe general public irrationally feared droids, but the wealthy and influential people of the galaxy would know better. Slavery in Star Wars is a 1-note villian trope. It's just the antagonists being evil for the sake of being evil. It makes no sense in universe.

The wealthy may see droids as a superior choice economically, but they may also see it as bad pr due to the war. It is also still cheaper to own slaves than it is to pay unskilled laborers. The general public and the wealthy may say: if droids are bad why not buy slaves from the outer rim? they would be in better hands under us than the slavers or hutts anyway! As for the slaves that were subjugated, they were primitives that needed to be civilized. Yes, we would be doing them a favor by buying and subjugating them!

I'm not sure if Wookiees had it worse than Twi-Lek's, and it's definitely debatable IMO, but I wouldn't go so far as to say they're *the* most subjugated species in the Star Wars galaxy. And now there's also the Lasat which are basically the exact same as Wookiee's in everything except appearance and language.
