Sorry if you don't like the music. I can't fix it. This is one of 2 videos where the music was too loud. It is my most popular video. I took some of the comments to heart and stopped adding music. My views have dropped off and my revenue. So I will continue to use music in my videos. This is the last time I will talk about music. All I can say is if it bothers you that much on the videos that are proper volume, then don't watch. I don't understand people who feel the need to point out the negative. I try to live and let live and stay positive. I don't need the negative comments in my feed. I am aware of this on this video. No need to tell me. For those of you who have kindly tried to defend me, thank you very much.

Im still making mistakes because Ive got a mixture of acrylics and they have different drying times and opacity! I have some golden open acrylics which take longer to dry than others but they are lovely. Its when I tried fluid acrylics that its even more confusing. However I do love gelli printing and have got my mojo back after my painting stopped during covid. I never thought Id be so motivated and excited as my 80 th birthday approaches. Thank you Susan for your great videos.

I don't have very good hearing nowadays so I do find music means I find it much more difficult to concentrate on the voice and it's important to hear what the artist says in this sort of tutorial. I guess if you have good hearing it's not so bad. Anyway, I'll keep persisting and maybe try just with subtitles.

I wish I had found your wonderful video sooner before I made all these messes, but of course now I can use them as backgrounds! You did an excellent job explaining and reminding about drying between layers. So, if I understand correctly, let it dry 4-5 minutes if you are going to put another layer of paint on top. Otherwise, pull wet, correct? I've had so many problems recently with paper sticking and tearing. Finally discovered that I needed to put mineral oil on my plate to refresh it, so now I'm ready to try your techniques! Thank you so much, Susan! And please don't let those "Karens" get to you! You are such a blessing to us!

The final pull is wet but let the paint dry on the paper before you pull. The dry time depends on the paint. So experiment.

I'm so glad I came across this vdo! You explain the process better than anyone I've watched before. I reasoned you have to 'think backwards' in the layers, but thinking that way only confused me. You word it really well: the first layer is what shows up best, and the last layer is the 'pull-up' layer. Yay! Also, I really like your use of ghost-prints. I only knew them as a second print. Now, I learned to actually CREATE ghost-prints, so they'll be functioning as the first layer! Thank you so much!

@ArtsyLadyCrafter11 ай бұрын
Thank you so much for what you shared. "The first layer is what's going to show on top. It builds from there. Your last layer you might see very little of it, depending on the transparency of your paint." This helped me to understand perfectly! Never heard anyone describe the process like that and I couldn't get the order in my head. Because of that, I always expected something very different. Also this, "Don't forget. Dry a lot in between each layer, like at least 5 minutes." This helped a lot because it seems scary to allow any of the paint to dry so much.

Understood, Susan…..these ‘techy’ things happen and it’s all a new learning curve for everyone who makes these videos, I’m sure. It definitely did not spoil it for me as I absolutely loved the video and have shared it with a friend in Canada who is also just starting with the gel plate. Your clear and concise delivery was just perfect and I am going to rewatch it and take notes. The reason I enjoyed it so much is because of its simplicity and your clear manner of describing and explaining everything. Opacity / translucency of the different coloured paints is something that I hadn’t considered previously when using the gel plate. I knew about the first layer being the dominant colour … but didn’t think about the other points that you made….so very helpful !! Learning about techniques and layering can be complex, but the way you explain it has been very helpful to me as a ‘newbie’ and I have learned a lot. I will enjoy watching your other tutorials and thank you, once again 🤗🤗

The time stamps 9:10 and 21:10 were my favorites! The color mix of that beautiful green in 9:10 were beautiful!! and 21:10 was my favorite!!! As a watercolor mixed media artist who creates and sells alot of greeting cards but have yet to accomplish a large ,say a 14” x 20” painting. I love to include decoupage to my paintings or pencil sanding over stencils. I have just begun learning how to gel print. I have learned that you need to wait for most layers to dry before continuing. I’m curious if what you are doing on your videos are just for teaching or if you use those prints for specific crafts as well. I want to learn how to create a piece of art on canvas with gelli prints!! I’ve purchased an assortment of Amsterdam acrylic paints but see that you use golden. I have several golden and QOR products . Looks like I need to purchase some golden acrylics now, 🤪 . I have been an artist/crafter for 50 years now! Yes my mom started teaching me crafts at the age of 7. My dad actually build her ,her own craft supply room in our back yard! It was actually on our back porch so it was always covered. It was a 10’ x 10’ room! Just for supplies!!! Today she’s 84 and is making me a quilt for my electric twin bed! She’s amazing! I have Multiple Sclerosis and it has affected my left hand so I am now focusing on drawing and painting and selling all of my other craft supplies except of course anything that can produce a texture! lol . I’m looking forward to learning alot from you! God bless you and may your channel prosper ❣️

Great video! Super helpful showing the same 3 layer process multiple times. I also like that you even showed the things that you don’t like as well. & then showed us what you tried next to pivot. I learned a lot. Thanks so much!

I just happened to catch your video. I’m commenting to say thank you to you and I hope the people that were rude and ungrateful will just go away with their crappy comments.

This tutorial is very helpful in understanding the concept of layering and the importance of the opacity of the paint. I appreciated the comments regarding stencils, in particular the comments you make about the ones you've created. I have been trying to figure that out, as the commercially available stencils offer infinite possibilities...at a price.

You can hand cut stencils on Mylar or Tyvek paper. I like to use my Cricut to make stencils.
