I have a few friends that have some Mexican research that need to be done. I'm gonna send them this video. I think it will help them get started. One of them told me that it's hard to research in Mexico cause all the records were destroyed. I'll think he will benefit from this the most. Thanks

Paper trail not just got lost, or got burnt, during wars. For people in most rural communities, Records are not available for millions of people, because they were never registered or accounted for. Lived too far from where they could do it, or were too ignorant to know they should do. The catholic church, more often than not, if the person presnting a child for baptism, or anything related. Woukd demand the presenters/parents were themselves married, if that was not the case: the child wouldn't be registerd/babtized and often; they were not married or even registered themselves etc. Generations of people do no exist in wrting. I, for once was not registered (registro civil), untill almost 10. Born in 1962. Sadly, In 2024, in those marginated, forgotten communities, things continue to be the same. 😢

I’ve had an amazing turn out doing my family genealogy tree from my paternal grandfather who was native to the state of chihuahua Mexico (it was called “la nueva Vizcaya). I come a far back to trace several 13 th great-grandfathers from the late 1400’s 🤯. And my 8th great-grandfather Juan Dominguez de Mendoza born in New Sapin 1627 christening in 30 May 1627 and died in 1693 was one Calvary solder that was Sent from the Viceroy to settle and colonized New Mexico

A sister of Juan Dominguez de Mendoza was my 9th great grandmother. Unfortunately, she and several other Dominguez de Mendoza family members were killed during the 1680 Pueblo Revolt in New Mexico. That's probably why Juan was so instrumental in the effort to recolonize New Mexico.

It is true that many Catholic records exist and few were lost or purposely destroyed, but many were destroyed, or rendered illegible, by water damage and insects.

That would be an excellent question to send to Nefi. His contact information is in the notes section here and on the blog post. You'll see that link too. Thanks so much for watching!

I found a (presumably living) spider scanned on the marriage certificate of one of my ancestors
