Genie S 65 Repair

I need to replace some o-rings in the hydraulic valve/manifold of a lift (like what is seen at 3:20 on the right). I am doing research and just want to know what hoses may have pressure in the lines and how to relieve them. Obviously set the bucket all the way down.. etc but what else? Any advice or resources you can give me I would appreciate it. It seems pretty straight forward but I know I don't know everything and just want to be safe.

Hi Paul. I have a leaking rotary and the local dealer tells me that I shouldn’t reseal it I should replace it. The cost is $3200 for a new one. Is it really that difficult to replace the seals? Do you have any recommendations where to buy used parts for a Genie? I appreciate you taking time to making the videos, very informative.

I definitely would replace the seals if possible, it will save you a lot of money. Most dealerships will say the same thing because they are just part swappers and want to sell you expensive parts. The local dealership here doesn't rebuild or reseal parts, they don't have anyone capable of doing it. They hire and train people just to swap parts. I try to avoid the throw away society unless I can't find seals or customer requests a new one. They are a pain to reseal, especially putting them back together. But if you take your time and have some mechanical skills you can do it. I don't know about used parts but I get my seal kits from Hercules. Sometimes GC Iron. Let me know if you have any questions.

Quite a few issues could be causing your problems. I would need more information like when it happens? Is it a intermittent issue or constant. Does it happen when you use a particular function?

@@paulsequipmentrepair823 constant problem so it causing me not to be able to calibrate the con trollers i dont want to order the wrong parts from miami and cant return it, i was leaning towards a bad key switch but iam trying to get a good second opinion

@@paulsequipmentrepair823 even if i disconect all the wires from e stop it dosnt cut off the e stop have 3 contactors and when i cut it of from ground and go in platform with e stop in i get 13 volts on 2 contactors and neg on the opposite side and on the 3rd contactor i get 13 volts on the 2 side with e stop in also and with e stop out13 v0lt on all 3 contactors

Why didn't you rebuild the rotator ?

I wanted to but the rebuild kit was unavailable. It was the customers decision.

I’m trying to pull one of these apart right now you guys know how to break into them?

@@bradlayton6755 yes, it unscrews but there is a hollow pin that has to come out before you can do so and alot of the time they get stuck. If it's stuck you have to carefully drill it out and remove

@@bradlayton6755 you have to put the bottom in the vice and unscrew the top. Your rebuild kit should include another hollow pin/cup. Even after removing oun they are usually pretty tight still. You can use some heat if you have too because the only thing it will damage is the seals that you will be replacing.
