I developed ROGD around 12. The main cause was that I had undiagnosed autism, and therefore had many atypical behaviors and interests that would often align more with my male peers. I'm nearly 15 now, and doing much better mentally and physically.
@andreaslack83793 ай бұрын
Trans person here and I agree with what is presented here. Compared to when I transitioned decades ago the modern trans ideology makes no sense to me. Now, it seems ones interests and behaviors define ones gender based on gender stereotypes. Aren't stereotypes bad? Even to the degree there is truth in stereotypes, why should someone, regardless of sex, be limited to interests and behaviors of any stereotype? There is no need to change gender for that. Back in the 90s the most serious interventions (social role transition and/or surgeries) were something only the most serious afflicted, the most dysphoric, would do. Now these are on the menu often with little challenge for someone to select based on a gender identification that is drawn from stereotypes and one doesn't even have to be dysphoric. It used to be that there were lots of off ramps one could take to manage their dysphoria. Therapy would delve into other issues and explore treatment options. Now therapy is not necessary because it "isn't a medical issue". Well it seems to me that medicine and surgeries are medical. Not to mention the psychological issues. I also find the adult transitioners that focus on kids bothersome. Too often adults express regrets that they didn't transition sooner cause the hormones would be so much more effective. I can't tell you how many times I seen one of these adults when some new trans exploring kid wanders into the online trans space and tells the kid they shouldn't wait, shouldn't delay because their life will be ruined if they don't do it now. I find that sort of pressure despicable. In my opinion kids should be barred from medical interventions. Much of the trans these days, seem like they are just playing at it. It gets them attention both good and bad. The good attention validates them. The bad attention makes them more part of the "community" and they get to rail against being persecuted. To me, this playing at it seems like a joke and a mockery of those with genuine dysphoria.

I spoke to a trans woman on tiktok about transing kids and said that osteoporosis was a real worry from taking the hormones. she said "if all I had to do was take extra vitamin D to look more like a woman now I would do it". I had to explain that osteoporosis was far more serious than just not having enough vitamin D and no amount of vitamins would stop your bones from breaking. The lack of medical awareness was frightening and the desire to project adult desires on kids. The world has gone nuts

I do not regret what I have done, but my motives were never based on stereotypes and I went thru years of therapy that challenged me and dealt with other issues beyond the trans issue. I am particularly adamant that borderline personality disorder be addressed as that is one of the most prevalent I seen masquerading as trans. The people who know me, I sometimes get calls from parents. These parents are mostly concerned and trying to help their kids. One of the most common questions I get takes the following form "My kid says she wants [this] but doesn't seem to make any effort themselves. A more specific example was kid having sex reassignment (aka Gender reassignment, aka gender conformation) surgery but leaves it up to me. I tell these parents that actions speak louder than words and if their child is leaving it to you, maybe this is your child saying they don't really want this. I say if your child really feels she needs this she would not be passive and would do anything to insure it happens. If your child is not this way, maybe you are pushing your child. Listen not to their words, listen to their actions.

@markrussell34283 ай бұрын
I take your point and I will add the Trans Redit, TikTok and lots of other online sources enabled the contagion but I still see face-to-face social circles impacting ROGD. Buckle in, lets really get into this garbage and hold schools accountable. Its not just the gender instruction and promoting pronouns we also have Genders & Sexualities Alliance (GSA) clubs in schools. No one seems concerned about the potential for grooming???? GSAs are how cult like gender/sexuality conversion therapy effects get perpetuated. If there were clubs promoting a heterosexual lifestyle among children and adolescents being overseen by teachers we would call the police. Instead what we see is a reshaping of language as children explore gender and sexuality in a social "club" environment. Things like “Minor attracted persons” didn’t really take hold in media lexicons, it didn’t distance the terminology far enough from what it actually means. Hence, we now can find “Adult attracted minor” is now being introduced in research and is a "nice" (disturbing) topic. Stay with me: what happens is the new language flips the script and uses the highly effective tactic of victim and oppression to reframe this very sick issue. Children are being made the victims. Children are denied access to something they feel “compelled in their heart and mind” to explore. This is the same narrative akin to their gender journey being played out. The concept certainly makes for a great discussion in school GSA clubs. As stomach churning as this sounds, don’t conflate this as a conspiracy theory. Think about how it came to be considered “acceptable” to put children on a path to a sex change and shifting beyond the internet this is a topic in youth social circles which is why you suddenly see social groups that are ROGD.

I'm 100% a supporter of trans people, I know some personally and have encountered and worked with others and almost all of them give me no doubts about the authenticity of their gender identity. I'm sure that the rise in trans identity and expression is partially due to it becoming more accessible and acceptable at least in certain societies. On the other hand when I was on TikTok a few years back I fell like I saw some of this, mostly teen girls identifying as either nonbinary or male, and they seemed particularly sensitive and susceptible to feel anger and hurt. It seemed odd that it would happen in friend groups. I know one person whom I met as a young woman who transitioned to male back in 2020 but seems to have been reverting back to feminine expression ( and then complains about people being confused about their gender identity, like what do expect you're presenting as über feminine and you're not on those male hormones anymore so you look like a woman!) I've seen photos of their spouse on Facebook, the spouse is a trans man and I have no doubt that that is real but secretly I do doubt that of his spouse, my acquaintance; I suspect they're just a hurt person who has a lot of powerful feelings, a need to feel special, who fell powerfully in love with someone who uplifted and protected their feelings, and got confused and thought they might be trans too. But either way, I respect his/their decision to declare their gender identity, especially as an adult, and happy to respect it. I'm just saying that I have suspected that the phenomenon this man speaks of is true, too.

I have a son who believes he is "trans". He never showed any feminine traits growing up. He was not super manly, but not interested in female things nor acted female. Many boys like him are now expecting to go into women's spaces and do not see any issue with it. Women are bigoted for not seeing them as women. He does not have respect for my or any opinion of an uncomfortable woman. Even interacting with him now, he is not womanly even though he thinks he looks "cute" in his giant chandelier earrings and boys clothes. He is brilliant and different and autistic. He is being encouraged and lied to by girls and gay friends at his college that he looks good and is being authentic. These glitter friends will move on. He will struggle to find a woman who wants to date the mess he is becoming. He will struggle to get a job. There are no safeguards anymore. The men who went through this in the past had to go through a lot of hurdles and were based in biology. My brilliant son thinks I am wrong about biology because of some dumb video about seahorses and quotes from trans activists saying that "trans oppression" is like being a black woman trying to go to the bathroom during segregation, like hating your gay son or not wanting mixed grandchildren. Clearly, none of these other situations required society to play make-believe and put themselves in harms way, and they did not require people to become medical patients for life. You being kind to these men just extends the pain that us families are going through as we try to get them the help that they need (like giving money to an alcoholic). As far as I can tell from my personal experience, it is a way for white males to win at the oppression Olympics. Please stop encouraging this behavior.

@souxcasa3 ай бұрын
Autism is mostly a genetic condition but sometimes neurological developmental conditions can happen in utero due to environmental conditions. If you're wondering why there's more now there are two reasons. One, there's a better understanding of the condition leading to better diagnosis strategies and two there is a larger cognitive load in the modern world both for executive function and socialising. This leads people to show and experience their autism more who may have flown under the diagnostic radar before being subclinical. The demands of the modern world is making neurodivergent conditions harder to manage
@Viky.A.V.3 ай бұрын
I've listened to some people who's on autism spectrum, as well as psychologists. They say mostly the same: people with autism simply are not able to comprehend the "social norms \ games oles". So, basically they don't get it why anyone should follow gender stereotypes. And if adults tell them they have therefore "gender dysphoria", they believe it (because they don't really have a choice).
@souxcasa3 ай бұрын
@@Viky.A.V. that's a little reductive. It's not that we don't understand why people should follow gender norms it's that most of us are naturally gender non conforming. That may be because we don't pick up on the gender cues as young people but that then is an argument that gender is a construct so I tend to reject that theory. I think it's more to do with a difference of processing information and because of that we tend to move and think differently. If you don't think like your peers as a woman you will be labeled gender non conforming as a male it depends. Male autists tend to fall into male behaviour categories except for a minority who can be more feminine in their movement and expression. I think the driver is simple we are different, we know we're different, society punishes us for being different and every autistic kid needs an answer to make life livable. To be handed an answer like "you're trans" and have that answer celebrated by the people punishing you for being different is a very tempting answer indeed

Prior to 2015 it wasn't possible for anyone to be themselves because we needed medicalization for that, and most people needed others to teach them about who they are and how to become themselves. Thankfully we have the medical industry to turn people into themselves with extreme health damage & loss of sexual function. I mean, I had gender confusion as a teen, and I knew trans people for 30 years, but none of that really existed because we didn't have people teaching us how we can only be ourselves if we all undergo sex trait modification to remedy gender nonconformity and homosexuality. Because we can't let people be gender nonconforming or be gay/bi, there's medical treatment to erradicate that now. Also, it's important to medicalize people with neurodevelopmental differences, so there's no unique healthy people messing up these boxes we need to fit people into.
