Really nice demonstration Geo! I love using this razor! It has a bit of a learning curve but once you've mastered it, it's an absolute joy to use. There's nothing like that pass from under the neck, over the jowl and along the cheek. This particular razor is an engineering marvel. And the sharpness of these blades (Pros or Supers) exceeds what I can get on my straight razors...that just means you have to be extra careful...which translates into learning great shaving technique. CHEERS!!!

These Feather shavettes are the real deal. After using other brands, I'm hooked on these. I get comfortable shaves with much less nicks (and most of those are caused by by 75 yr-old face).. Shaving with one of these is a real pleasure and produces an extraordinarily close shave.

Wassup handsome. Not that I enjoy watching you shave that handsome face of yours ( joke from a straight guy), but I been cutting my own hair using clippers, shaved using Schick Quattro and straight razor for the shape up at the end. Found trying to do a whole shave with a straight razor a bit sketchy but watching this video kind of gave me a bit of confidence watching this from start to finish. Now using my $15 straight razor vs this $100 to $200 feather product I have yet to be convinced. Not sure is I'm willing to spend that amount on a straight razor. Will be doing a bit more research I to this to see if I can believe more in the product. Definitely looks very solid. Especially the way the blades are packaged, (not to mention $20 for 15 blades). I'll update this comment once I figure it out. Thanks buddy.

I have the Feather DX aswell as cheap Chinese clones of the SS and the Kai Captain Zebrano, the SS and the Kai are similar for having the bulged lip on the shaving edge. I've found that the DX is much more comfortable for me while the other two require much more steep and unnatural angle for shaving and I feel like I'm not having very good control of the blade, perhaps because I have less visibility with the bulge at the end. I'm also new at the straight razor shaving (if you can call it that) so as a newbie the DX is still the better choice for me aswell as the much better looking one. If you are on a budget I'll recommend the standard Kai Captain which is not lipped and is almost identical to the DX but is half the price.

Thanks for the tips Ashengard-which reminds me of Asgard...

Thanks for the tip, I had taken the SS out of the running after learning about the bulged lip, and was debating between a $200 DX and $130 Kai captain pakkawood. The Kai captain came with a leather case and a pack of blades despite the lower price, and I'm glad to say I can't notice the lip whatsoever, I think it's basically identical to the DX.

Is there any reason to go for the Feather Artist Club DX instead of the SS? www.feather.co.jp/en/bh_Products/professional.html The SS seems to be slightly milder than the DX. Also that the DX is more adjustable (whatever that means). Some have mentioned the KAI Captain as an good alternative to the Feather Artist Club. The Kai uses their own blades. I find Shavettes razors, is like buying a car from Ford, and you can only fill it with Ford gasoline. That is why I like DE Safety Razors, it will never be an issue getting blades that work.

@@os8544-k6z I use feather blades myself, they work well for my sensitive skin, with a gentle touch of course.

Use your blade until youre no longer happy with the shave you get. Some people use a new blade every shave or two.. I know some people who use blades from 5 to 10 times each, depending on how regularly they shave and the thickness of their growth. I use a single edge shavette, similar to this video and i can use one blade for about 3-4 shaves to line up my beard and shave my neck and i also line up my hair line just as many times.

@@AllanDC97 DE Feathers are too sharp for me, they cut my beard well but they also scrape the top layer of my skin. With cartridge razors I have a similar problem with Gillettes and that's why Harry's worked best for me but the blade choice is a very personal thing, It depends what type of beard and skin you have and you can find the right one only by trial.
