Hi Geoff, THank you for the quick reply. I can't believe you answered so quickly as it is 4:50 AM. If you are in England, (which I don't know for sure) there is a five hour time difference, putting England five hours ahead of Midwest USA. You mentioned your Holiday in Canada. I'm about ninety miles South of Windsor, Ontario. I have relatives in Canada, but can't remember where, but in Ontario. My maternal Grandmother Salisbury came over to this country from England, and landed in Newfoundland, and made her way to Michigan at the age of 12 or 13. My paternal Grandmother Rennick came from Ireland, landed in Canada as a small child, and her parents settled in Michigan also. Both of my Grandmother's married Irishman, and Englishmen. Each had two husbands. So much more to the story, but that's enough for now, as I need to get to bed...it's 5:10 AM. Small world. Have a good Holiday.

HI Ethel, yes I am in England. I tend to keep strange hours, but it is now 10:40 a.m. Sleep well.

Try though I might, I am utterly HOPELESS at pastry, so how you managed to make it with just butter beats me; you're the pastry GENIUS!!! :) :) :)
@geoffsbakingblog4 жыл бұрын
Hi Wurlitzer895. Thanks very much. I am sure you could do this. Maybe use a food processor to mix the butter and flour and then add the egg yolk and water and process until it just comes together. Don't over-work it.

Hi Elaine, welcome to my channel, and thanks for subscribing. I am glad you all enjoyed the pies. I have more coming. This week I am going to post a Gala Pie video and I have plans for individual steak and ale(or any type of beer) pie, made with hot water crust pastry. I think they will be suitable to eating hot or cold, or I hope so anyway.

Seems good Geoff but what about adding some spices such as salt & pepper or even herbs like thyme or cumin in with the meat.
@geoffsbakingblog7 жыл бұрын
HI there. In the recipe, on my blog, salt and pepper is included. The recipe was a Paul Hollywood one and the 'spice or herb' fllavour comes from the Worcestershire sauce. But of course people could add whichever herbs they wish to enhance the flavour to their tastes.

Videos such as these are a boon to such as me who has no real idea as to what something SHOULD look like. Frankly your smapling of the result spoke wonders of it's tastyness. I thought you were going to polish it all off. :-)

Thanks for he video. As the Two Fat Ladies would say, "Everyone can enjoy this dish except the poor vegetarians." I enjoyed the closed captions, some of which were very funny. Even sounds made by the spoon hitting the dish produced words, mainly "yeah, yeah, yeah".
@geoffsbakingblog8 жыл бұрын
Hi, yes the closed captions are always quite amusing. I will go in this evening and edit them to something more reasonable.
