Argie with a British family here (English and Scottish), and I must say... I lived in Manchester for some time and I could tell people in England don't give a shit about the Malvinas issue. We feel this claim in our hearts for some emotional reason. Also, the fact that our war was so unbalanced. I feel like in 15 years when a millennial or gen z gets to power in England they'll just accept they're ours.

Don't get your hopes up...before, in the 50s or 60s it could have been, but today they have strategic importance for British interests, those of the U.S.A., NATO, for being the key to entry and projection to the Antarctic continent Super strategic reserve due to the water it contains. Apart from oil, fishing and so on... and in the hegemony dispute with China it is more than important to have a military base in the South Atlantic... given all this, Argentine interests are absolutely secondary to global power...

The "thing" about those islands is the oil that you can find around them, there are extremely large fishing grounds there too, so not only the British are there but also Chinese, Spanish, Japanese, and Norwegian fishing fleets. There is also the larger topic: Antarctica. It is hard to say what is a myth and what is reality, but there are just too many stories about old cities there, also about "strange" installations belonging to companies like Raytheon.

"the UK was able to fight off Argentina"...??? The islands was actually being shared,then the conflicts for resources such as petroleum and fish started. That war never ended,it was stopped after the argentinian pilots destroyed many ships that carried food, ammunition and troops. Leaving UK vulnerable. Then the UK treated argentinian diplomatics in Buenos Aires to sign up a stop fire agreement, otherwise the UK "would've invaded Argentina" (which has never worked for anyone but diplomatics know nothing about war) And they did it,they stopped a war that was already under Argentina's control...
