Truth is valid forever, whether most people know it or believe it. Sadly, with freak show Trump elected again by the American people it just proves Carlin's point: American people are stupid and easily manipulated. Most of them who voted, that is.

George Carlin was a philosopher. The wisest person I ever known. Opened my eyes on the ruling system and society. I really miss him.

you should check out Jacque Fresco who took it even further than Carlin.... based on his life experiences. Like living though Great depression, WWII, he met with Einstein, BF Skinner, Bucky Fuller, and many other inventors, through his own research and experiences he found out that the human behavior (not human nature!) is shaped by environmental and cultural influences, and this shapes our thinking, understanding, outlook, values..... saying that people are stupid isn't enough... it's when you *understand why do people behave the way they do* you can start moving them in new and better direction. He formed a very good understanding of this society... His lectures were brilliant, literally life changing material because also offered possible solutions since he was also technical on top of being scientific and humane.

Watch Zeitgeist films by Peter Joseph? Carlin was a big influence on him and his new film, Zeitgeist: Requiem, pays tribute to that in the trailer, and Martin Luther King Jr, no less.
@Chasm911 күн бұрын
@@coolioso808 Yes, Carlin was also featured in Zeitgeist The Movie and Zeitgeist Addendum. But Jacque Fresco had a whole segment in the Zeitgeist Addendum - really worth the watch. Also documentaries about his Venus Project called The Choice is Ours or Paradise or Oblivion talk about social change and a new social system that is just and equitable for all people. They use science and technology for the betterment of all people and protection of environment. Fresco wasn't just a philosopher, he was an industrial designer and social engineer and inventor first and foremost. He made thousands of designs and hundreds of inventions.

My father loved George Carlin growing up in the 60s/70s and showed me his work when I was a young boy in the early 2000s. He used to joke around telling me that he was my great Uncle because we were Carlins ourselves. Ever since those early years of my life, I’ve admired George’s interviews and specials more than any other person. He knew how to captivate his audience like no other. He’d draw them in, bludgeon them with the truth, honesty and reality that we were all living in and then later on in the night, I’ve heard stories he would talk to you just like a regular person, like a friend, even if he just met you. He used to always talk about how there’s a universe inside each and every one of us if we look close enough but as soon as we begin to group, as soon as we begin to clot, that’s where we begin to sacrifice the beauty of the individual. Boy, do we miss George dearly. ❤

I agree . . . however, he looks down on people. Calling people stupid all the time, as he did, doesn't start a conversation that leads them into being less stupid, and less likely to threaten you, when they are firstly threatened by ideas and viewpoints that they can't comprehend. To get through to people, to help them be less stupid, you have to go against the whole marketing-driven narrative that the US has constructed over the last 150 years; because advertising, commercial propaganda (overlaid by state propaganda; viz. 'Top Gun', 'Call of Duty', etc.) has created a distorted picture of the world, in which people's only path to worth and satisfaction is portrayed as the acquisition of increasingly scarce & expensive commodities. But I suppose Marxist analyses of the problems he identified is a step too far. As you were. All Hail the Orange Fuhrer! Buy stupid crap, made in a low wage economy, from multinational companies! John Steinbeck's legions of 'temporarily embarrassed millionaires' have spoken, and they choose the illusion of democracy, which they've been sold by meretricious billionaire imbecile fash-bros, rather than the hard work real democracy entails.
