Eyyyyyyyyyy, good to see guitars of the gods back. You could do a video on Sting's bass, i would love that

From what I can tell Lucy under Eric Clapton ownership was a backup for his 1960 Les Paul which he bought from Andy Summers of The Police which would explain why he never used it

I've read that he was also more interested in his "Fool" SG and a few other guitars around that time. It's been written that Clapton would gift guitars to his friends which rings true here.

@@SecretsofRock That's true. Eric even bought Jimi a Strat, but Jimi died before he could give it to him.

The Summers Les Paul was history by early 1967 (broken headstock). Eric purchased Lucy and gave it to George a year and a half later.

I think I’ve said this before but I think it would be really cool to see a episode on the Stratocasters played by Stevie Ray Vaughan (number one, lenny, Yellow etc)

Loved the history involved and the jokes used. Funnily enough, I had just been seeing a review of "Lucy" when this popped up in my feed (California).

Always found the whole thing about this guitar supposedly being a "dog" a bit mystifying. There is a radio interview with George Harrison from the 70s where he says that this was the best guitar that he had up to that point, so it must not of been too bad. Its all over the Beatles' last 3 albums. Plus Clapton borrowed it for his comeback Rainbow Concert in 1973, and never really said a bad word about it. Listen to the tone of it on While my Guitar Gently Weeps and Something, etc, definitely not a bad sounding guitar by any stretch of the imagination

if Pattie Boyd stayed with George, he never would have married Olivia. George definitely got a win-win.

Clapton was well known for changing necks and pickups, a simple restring and change of setup would have yielded a slightly different sounding guitar.

Funny how Gibson painted over the Les Paul transfer on the headstock and left the screws from the B11Bigsby Mounting Hinge.
@dukeford88936 ай бұрын
It's common for the "Les Paul" silkscreen on the headstock to wear off and Gibson did fill in the Bigsby "bite marks" on either side of the tailpiece.

I wonder why Derringer, Clapton and Harrison didn't favor that guitar. Strange.
