@@andrewvasquez7872 I never liked Daenerys to begin with, so her going mad was fine with me. With fire and blood, she took it indeed. My problem is with fanboys, lamenting in the comments about how wonderful it would be to lock George in some basement, trading food and empty buckets for new chapters. At this point I can't even tell, how many times I've heard Martin saying, that he is a "gardener", not an "architect". It simply doesn't work like that for him. If he finishes the story in his own way - wonderful. If not... Oh well. As I said, Dan&Dan finished it quickly. Those guys hated that ending. I agree that dialogues did drop in complexity and wits, but that's exactly why they should shut up and leave George in peace already.

I think George's smartest move is being abstract in his answers. If you give a straightforward answer it can be picked apart and being abstract in your answers allows people to view your work as art and see more into it than even you meant to put into it, and by not being rigid in his answers he can lay claim to everyone's analysis of his work.

I'm hoping my man San (The Hound) also heard something in the flames when he got burned, and that somehow established a connection between himself and Rhllor. Which will make him a vital figure in the story going forward. I thought the show was headed in that direction by having him receive/accurately interpret a fire vision on his first attempt, but as usual they squandered good character development. Also, despite The Hound's assault being reason enough to fear the flames, I'd imagine having heard a voice in the fire as it happened would propel those feelings to a whole new stratosphere. PS- I'd say George gave Theon several breaks...😆🤷♀️.

Martin is constantly reminding the audience that he's just writing as realistic as possible. It's a fictional universe, but the characters behave as real people and can get unlucky in the same way. His recollection about riding the "L" train in Chicago perfectly describes the way inspiration often strikes me. So many times I've been sat on a bus or train for a work commute and a scene or sentence just pops into my head. The lucky thing these days is that we've all got phones with notepads on, so it's easy to get your thoughts down quickly, however dumb they might seem later. I've got 355 notes in my phone at the moment, and that's after purging a lot of it (be it through deletion, combining with other notes, or transferring onto my PC).

I've been an amateur writer since I first learned to write, but have never had time to finish a project; What he describes about how his stories come to him and how words are both tools but stubborn and flawed in how they convey the true feelings of the story within the mind is just chilling to me because it's exactly how I form my own stories and how I feel when I try to put them to paper. I couldn't have explained it any more clearly myself.

And im learning that its basically the same. We cant escape translating our creativity in our heads. Is that a hard pill to swallow for you? For me it is
@theshadowsovereign8914 Жыл бұрын
You're most certainly an amateur writer. Your grammar and sentence structuring requires work. When you're writing, the use of, 'comma's' is absolutely essential, as they convey how the sentence and words are meant to be spoken. Using, 'colons' was not needed once in your two sentences. You had 80 words from the beginning of your sentence, until your first period. Yes, I counted the words. Concise, detailed, and expressive words/sentences are all the hallmarks of a good writer. (And proof-reading before submitting) I am extremely grateful that I had the hardest English Teacher during my High School experience, as she taught me how to apply those key hallmarks to my writing style. Starting on your grammar, is a good start to becoming an expressive writer. It's funny, I never finished my Grade 12 as I was a couple credits short. I never felt any need to go back, as there was nothing left for me to gain from that generalized education program. I excelled in all subjects, especially English. Once I got bored and proved to myself I could easily get high marks, I stopped bothering to exert any additional effort. It was a waste of my time. However, I wrote Master-Level University Essays and Papers for a Friend, and they all received an, 'A-Mark'. The closest project I have to writing a story, was when I made the storyline for my, '4-Hour' Fallout 4 Movie. I had a general idea of the storyline on how to begin and end the plot. I filled in the dialogue and all the details as I filmed and edited the project. Intuition is what helped guide me through the story. That was around a 100-page script that I managed to finish in just a little over 1000 hours, and 3 months of 12 hour days to complete. That included building the sets, filming, editing, writing dialogue, voice-acting, etc. That Fallout 4 project was amazing for me, and it was an absolute joy to work on. There is one aspect of writing that is absolutely essential, you need the passion and knowledge to be able to effectively write a story with a compelling plotline. I could very easily write a book or a novel. However, I require something to be passionate and knowledgeable enough about, to be able to write something of significance. If you write for the sake of writing, the end result will never turn out well. Good luck with your future writing endeavors. 😀

That phrase holds absolute truth when you realize history is a farce, and we have discovered technologies time and time again. If you can imagine it, it has already happened. Thank you for the kind words. I am assuming you watched the entire 4 hours of the Movie? Exactly what was the plotline of my story? Why do people feel the need to cut other people down for their own, 'self-gratification'? I offered constructive criticism from someone with an extensive writing background, and what did I receive in return? A biased, defensive response based on only your reactive emotions and nothing on actual fact. Please, I would be more than happy to engage into an intelligent debate with you. However if you're unwilling to act respectfully and with a mature temperament, I cannot indulge in any more replies. Nobody asked Sly Gaming to leave his comment. Man I can’t get enough of all these George RR Martin interviews on KZbin. Looks like that man talked to everybody. Can we get George RR on with Letterman on that new Netflix show?? Or fucken Joe Rogan? Tyson??? Iunno shit I’ll even take him on The Shop with Lebron...

A new George RR Martin interview on KZbin!?!? It's been years!! I'm thankful for this... I had watched the same vids about him talking about Gardener and Architect, and talking about Tolkien making Good guys and bad guys not have enough grey and not explaining Aragorn's tax policy, like 100 times each! 😂 Still kind of surprised a question was "What does Ice and Fire mean" though 😳🧐 uhmm, sir

I think the point is more to expone Varys' motivation more than set up a plot line about a voice in the fires It simply tells the reader that Varys will do everything he can to prevent followers of the red god to rise to power

I always thought a "song of ice and fire" symbolized many things in the story, but one of the biggest things it referred to was the brief *song* of John and Dany's love.
@LadyLilith10153 жыл бұрын
Really? Jon and Dany's love? What love? LMAO. It would make more sense if is about Rhaegar and Lyanna, since the whole conflict is about Jon's true parentage.

George: I get drunk on words sometimes. Is that how we end up with ridiculously out of proportion and over-scale structures; and dwarves who can do a 12-15"+ descending front flip from a castle battlement with a handspring landing but struggles with stairs because he's so crippled? Because that would clear up a lot of confusion.
@greywolf7577 Жыл бұрын
Kangaroos are great at hopping, but can't walk well. So maybe Tyrion is great at sliding down railings and doing flips, but bad at walking up stairs. Being good at one thing doesn't make you good at everything.

"I don't think in terms of overall themes" FINALLY! Thank you George to say this. I'm sure this has angered a few people who see the "theme" as the only important part of a story and use it to brush off any flaw or plot hole in it...

Who uses that when talking about ASOIAF? People were pissed that the show betrayed the themes of the book, almost no one argued what you’re saying
