Yes you should! I used a very high fat cream cheese so it was able to hold its shape when piped. Some people add a bit of cornflour

In large amounts just search online and measure weight(of dog/pet) per amount (of baking powder) etc... a lot of stuff is unsafe but it is typically in large amount.
